Burnham wasn't in favour of this bill for the same reason he wasn't in favour of IVF treatment for lesbian couples: he answers to a higher power than the people of the UK. (BBC excerpt...)

Excerpt from the BBC: For others, the influence of Andy Burnham may have been a factor. Last time MPs voted on this issue, Keir Starmer was prime minister and in favour of this change.

Burnham is not in favour of this bill. And that change might have swayed some MPs who supported the bill last time to stay away.

Yeah. Had a rant about that on Instagram.

Queers were injured and murdered a short walk away from our country's legislative building that wasn't flying our flag on the grounds that our ruling party didn't want it to become a "circus".

The reason we fly that flag is because people want to kill us. It is our defiance. Yet the Bundestag didn't fly it because it was "political".

Our ruling party contributes to the rancid atmosphere that allows those who would hurt us more agency to do so.

Fuck the CDU.

TIL that sometimes it's not just a panic attack, it's heatstroke. TIL that heatstroke can be fatal and I'm lucky my husband recognised symptoms, told me I needed to cool down even though I felt cold, and forced water in me. Also glad he knew to check my heart rate measurements from my smart watch.

Heart rate from smart watch ranging from 84 to 157 (whilst lying down resting) and then dropping to 52.

This bit from Allensbach polling is genuinely mad. When asked if Germany has a special responsibility towards Israel, 28% said yes, 52% said no. Change since 2014? None. The piety with which Germans insist foreigners sign up to this to "integrate". And they don't even believe it themselves...

Eine Frage in der aktuellen Umfrage lautete: „Würden Sie sagen, Deutschland hat für das Schicksal Israels eine besondere Verantwortung, oder würden Sie das nicht sagen?“ 28 Prozent der Bürger sprachen Deutschland diese besondere Verantwortung zu, 52 Prozent widersprachen. Diese Zahlen gleichen fast auf das Prozent genau denen, die im August 2014 erhoben wurden.

GRÜNE Abgeordnete stellt sich auf die Seite von Linksradikalen gegen CDU-Abgeordnete! Am Samstag (6. Juni) standen wir (die Abgeordneten Kurt Wansner und Timur Husein) mit einem CDU-Stand in der Wrangelstr./Falckensteinstr. Nach zwei Stunden bauten wir den Stand ab und plotzlich standen um uns herum Linksradikale, die uns als Rassisten und Nazis beschimpften, drohten, anschrien, in den Weg stellten, vor uns ausspuckten. Natürlich blieben wir und boten Paroli. Die GRUNE-Abgeordnete Schmidberger kam später dazu, sah sich die Auseinandersetzung an, ging auf die Seite der Linksradikalen und fragte uns (nicht die Linksradikalen), was wir hier machen. Wir erklärten ihr, dass wir hier einen CDU-Stand haben und wir uns als Demokraten weder vertreiben noch als Rassisten beschimpfen lassen. Die Abgeordnete Schmidberger sagte daraufhin, dass wir ja Rassisten seien, dass die Leute aufgebracht sind wegen des Zauns am Görlitzer Park und forderte uns auf zu gehen. Als wir ihr Verhalten als unsolidarisch bezeichneten, fragte ein Linksradikaler ob sie uns kenne. Ihre Antwort: Ja, dass sind leider Kollegen von mir. Anschließend fuhr sie mit ihrem Fahrrad fort. Wir verurteilen das undemokratische Verhalten der Kollegin Schmidberger und werden dieses Verhalten dem Ältestenrat des Abgeordnetenhauses vorlegen. Eine Entschuldigung von Frau
Schmidberger ist aus unserer Sicht selbstverständlich.
