Ukrainian presidential advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov confirms Elon Musk's Space X crippled Ukrainian capabilities last night. In other words, the US deliberately sabotaged European defence operations mid-mission. Every country in the world should move away from buying American hardware ASAP.
"I can confirm that tonight SpaceX has implemented a speed limit on Starlink terminals while in motion.

The limit currently applies to the StarShield “military package” and is set at 100 mph.

Our defense forces were not given notice of this limit, and this has resulted in the disruption of a number of missions.

It is clear that this action cannot be a coincidence and is related to the current political situation."

"But this would have taken me hours without AI" Say people who've just made a video summary or something with AI. No, it wouldn't. It wouldn't have taken you any time whatsoever! Because you wouldn't have done it without AI. And that would have been a good thing.

Our pig is named after Face from the A-team (who was called Templeton Peck, so our pig is formally called Templeton Pig). But as his snout is shaped kind of like an upside down heart, and he's black, so he now has a new nickname: The face of spades.

Konkret forslag: Staten ordner med en default-løsning med Linux og åpne office-alternativer til bruk i det offentlige. F.eks i skolen.

My son's in his 2nd year of Norwegian "high school", specialising in IT. Should he learn AI tools at school? I say no. The AI tools are changing every month. A sustainable working process will not be in place for a while yet. The fundamentals of computing however will stay the same. Focus on them.

Wow!

If all this automation is going to have any value for humanity, it HAS TO involve dramatically reduced working hours, so that we have time for the human activities that actually matter. It makes no sense to push for automation unless it frees up time for more valuable activities. 4/4

Drawing, writing (both text and software), making music, sharing thoughts and communicating, these are things that make our lives worthwhile. What makes anyone want to outsource that to machines? What kind of work will be left in this future the AI enthusiasts want? 3/4

What's the point of getting machines to do our work if we still have to work just as much? What kinds of activities are actually valuable? Until now, the types of work software replaced was mostly boring stuff, but with AI, we're replacing actually valuable work: creative work. 2/4

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV's Al encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah's team then privately lobbied the pope's advisers "to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously." Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.

This is the dodgiest and most-desperate thing I’ve seen in the bubble so far. Amazon selling their chips to a group of investors and leasing them back - an off balance sheet arrangement done in plain sight. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. And they’ll probably buy more!
Amazon is seeking to offload about $8bn of advanced Nvidia chips to external investors through a new vehicle aimed at strengthening its balance sheet, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Seattle-based cloud giant has held talks with investors in recent weeks to gauge interest in the deal, which would allow the company to spin off thousands of Grace Blackwell chips it is deploying in data centres across the US into a special-purpose vehicle.
Amazon will then lease the advanced AI chips back from the SPV, which would tap outside investors through debt issuance. By unloading the expensive semiconductors to investors, the company could adopt a more asset-light approach to its balance sheet.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”
