This story is wild: “In Arkansas, all it took was a few clicks on the Arkansas secretary of state website, $45 and an American flag to form a bona fide private school…” Makes me think of when John Oliver formed Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption just to prove how easy it was to get tax-exempt status.

Appalled that so many peoples’ main takeaway from the Nikole Hannah-Jones piece is “she made the wrong choice.” We can’t individual choice our way out of systemic and structural problems, particularly those rooted in racism and classism.
