American leftists are by and large armchair activists who are too lazy to have any real convictions about anything. They do it because they don't really care in the end. They are just chasing trends for identity validation.

Did it just become acceptable for ostensibly left people to start throwing around misogynistic slurs again? Been seeing this a lot, including from friends, lately. Like this is concerning. "Coward" exists as a word. Sexism isn't okay just because you don't like the other side.

Hope it covers that Frankfurt School knowingly received its funding from the US imperialist western German puppet government, and how Adorno and Horkheimer actively censored their own students to retain funding. And how they knowingly contributed to anticommunist propaganda magazines like Der Monat.

Your regular reminder that the Jacobin is a reactionary, anti-socialist magazine and will just promote bigoted, regressive horseshit. They are grifters.

Even most anti-revisionist Marxists in North America are just Twitter armchair philosophers. We have never had a functional anti-revisionist movement in this country. Lots of dysfunctional ones, and clown shows though.

Legit imagine being a "Marxist-Feminist" and saying that Canada is trying to build an "equitable" system for everyone. North American Marxism is such unadulterated buffoonery.

3. Offering Low Enrolled Courses
a. If a low enrolled course assigned to a tenure track faculty, permanent non-tenure track faculty, or
graduate instructor (TO) is offered, the Department will be assessed $800 per seat below the low
enrolled minimum (e.g., if an undergraduate course is offered with only 6 students enrolled, the
department will be assessed $4,000 for the 5-student gap). These assessments flow back into the
Supplemental Instructional Allocation (SIA) process, which funds replacement instruction (e.g., adjuncts)
across all departments.

I would contend we got this level of inequality because of capitalism. Encouraging people to "ethical egoism" is just a posthoc justification for capitalism's continuation of austerity, not the cause. But yeah, Rubio is a Randian fascist.

There is virtue, I believe, in the protection of the collective. Safeguarding the community is so much harder than lifting the ego. Anyways, join a union, fight inequality & reject the idea that any 1 is better than the health of the many. You know who taught us that? Plato (and later Rousseau).

I’ve said it a thousand times but Stoicism and Ayn Rand both appeal to certain politicians and technocrats because it allows for them to feel virtuous in their narcissism. Casting themselves as ambitious heroes in a “hero’s journey” is exactly why @sentantiq.bsky.social and I wrote this takedown.

I wish we would not use "Orwellian" like this... mostly because Orwell actively worked with intelligence agencies to stifle free speech, promote propaganda, etc. Like the dude was actively participating in thought control activities. Dude was pro thought control.

While I'm not hopeful for the capitalist university system, I am actually rather optimistic about the prospects of a better future overall, including one where the humanities find a whole new world of education (unbeholden to the strictures of capital and industry).

Chrissy Hansen, M.A. @chrissyhans97.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The humanities are fundamentally tied to the wellbeing of the working class. We have the opportunity now to form a united front and create a whole new kind of education.

Oh I think the dream is possible. I just think it will happen with a fundamentally different kind of university. I also dream, and I know the dream is absolutely possible. I just think it will happen in a different way.

We will get through this fascistic cycle, and the scraps the school administrators give us will be far less than what we had even just 20 years ago. But they will still convince us that we should consider ourselves lucky. I don't think our humanities will recover even remotely, tbh.

I doubt it. The Democrats are just as pro-austerity as the republicans, and they have been big in pushing the gutting of the universities to transform them into industrial processors for new labor. With each successive cycle of welfare-austerity-fascism-welfare, the welfare diminishes each time.

We have the same amount of democracy as we have always had. We have always been a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and we have never had democracy for the masses. Stop the nostalgia for fictional times. Fascism is just capitalism in crisis mode. It has always been there. Lurking.

Because Albania was once a socialist nation, and America and the rest of the capitalist world have been trying to deliberately punish it ever since for daring to not subject itself to their authority. Since they arne't a superpower, we subject them to erasure. Same as Greece since the Civil War.
