🦉 This little owl was enjoying some midday shade in our yard (taken years ago with an older phone and while they did let me get fairly close, I still zoomed in). ✨ A very Happy Birdday to you Billy! ✨

A little owl perched on a wall under a tree. His body is facing away from the camera but his head is turned almost completely around revealing his face. He looks a little annoyed that I’m disturbing his peace lol.

Real college (campus apartment) and work life in the Eighties. AI has no idea. (I was the “Aramis man” at The Broadway in DTLA.)

An old faded photo of a very young me circa mid 1980s in my college dorm/apartment kitchen sitting at the table eating cereal.

Another old fading photo of me (around 1987) wearing a tie and suit jacket standing behind a men’s fragrance/skin care counter in a department store.

This made me think you may enjoy this book. A kind of a gay romantasy. Beautifully written.

Photo of a book titled “The Wolf and his King” by Finn Longman. Colorful cover features stars, forest, wolf and a crown illustrated and beautifully interwoven with title.

A calm Provincetown view at 5:25 am this morning.

A very early morning pict looking across an overcast Provincetown Harbor from the west side of town. Lights on Macmillan Pier/Wharf reflect on the water on the left of the photo while the Pilgrim Monument stands beautifully lit from the base on the right—the light of which softly illuminates the low clouds above it.

If you are not using it already, I strongly suggest the EIQ (Everywhere Is Queer) app. It helps you discover LGBTQ+ owned businesses in your area. I’ve discovered we have a local gay-owned candy shop! As if that’s not reason enough to use the app, you get wonderful notification messages like this.

A mobile phone screen notification from the Everywhere Is Queer app that reads:“Chosen Family Energy
Somewhere out there, someone would be lucky to know you. Let that feeling land gently today.”

This actually works for this situation too …

Strange Planet comic of aliens watching a sports game and their team lost:
Young Alien: Now I am sad.
Older Alien: Me too. But some experiences of disappointment are unavoidable.
Young A: Like this one?
Oldert A: No this is avoidable. This is a choice.
Young: Has the experience ever improved?
Older: The image resolution has.

The three songs available on the upcoming Eartheater’s “Heavenly Body: If I Am The Bottle You’re The Message” album are just gorgeous. Hauntingly beautiful melodies & lyrics. I’m not familiar with this artist but planning to learn more; really looking forward to the rest of this album coming out.

A snapshot of the cover of Eartheater’s upcoming album “If I Am The Bottle You’re The Message.” Features the pregnant artist nude (with long white gloved hands covering her breasts) slightly bent over with a very futuristic headpiece and hair.

Trying out an old recipe in honor of my Roman roots. Hope I made you proud.

Happy New Year! (Just in case: does anyone have a ship to escape this spinning rock?!) Cheers!

Me sitting at a table (looking inquisitive of not angry lol) with a human-sized Greedo Funko figure (large stylized squarish head atop a regular body) in a mock set from the famous Mos Eisley Cantina scene in Star Wars (where Luke Skywalker first meets Han Solo). Photo taken earlier this year at the Funko store in Hollywood.

Happy Winter Solstice! Worked legs tonight.

A reflection of me in my gym bathroom mirror; I’m shirtless with my sweatpants pulled down, revealing my black undies and trying to show off my leg “pump”!

I was told I should post this so here it is! This was from September. ‘Hope everyone is having a great day (despite all the awfulness in the world). Stay strong!

My reflection in a small bathroom mirror with a corner of the hammered copper frame showing. I’m shirtless, showing off my upper body pump, in a slightly curvy leaned-back pose with a slight offsided grin.

I only have one iris plant giving Autumn blooms and it’s this much-needed cheerful yellow. My iPhone can’t quite capture the delicate quality of the flower; irl, it’s much more transparent and luminous like tissue paper.

Happy Birthday Billy! I had to wait to send birthday wishes—I needed to get a birb pict. I’ve been lucky to gather eggs from my neighbor’s hens while they are traveling. Seems I always catch this one on the nest and she lets me pet her. Hope you’re having the best day!

A black hen nesting in her coop; hopefully laying an egg!

A selection of eggs gathered from my neighbor’s hens. They are 6 total in various shades of brown, a light blue and even an olive color (besides white too).

The cut continues and though very similar, I like this image better than the last selfie I posted. July 28, 2025

A selfie I took (in undershorts) documenting my bodybuilding/cutting progress. Similar to a previous image where I’m in a three-quarter-ish turn but showing more definition in my torso. I’m happy and smiling.

Starting to lean out a bit (trying to “cut” more). Pardon the paleness and farmer’s tan lol.

Pastina with Eggs & Milk. Worth taking lactaid for if you need to!

Recipe for Pastina with Milk and Eggs.

6 cups milk
10 ounces pastina (4 fistfulls) (tiny pasta, sometimes in the shape of stars or seeds)
3 eggs, beaten
3 oz grated parmigiano cheese
Salt and freshly ground
pepper

Bring the milk to a boil in a large, heavy saucepan over high heat. Add the pastina and cook until it is slightly softer than al dente, and the milk is as thick as cream. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the eggs, cheese, and salt and pepper to taste.

SERVES 4 to 6 CHILDREN

Happy Earth Day! The irises have been putting on quite a show all month; it’s been an epic bloom with so many flowers.

A vibrant violet bearded iris with white patches on the lower falling petals.

A stalk of four bearded iris flower buds topped with an open bloom of velvety dark purple.

A delicate creamy-peach bearded iris with orange furry beards. A bit of the interior of the bloom is showing with soft orange and apricot hues.

A couple of violet and yellow bearded irises. One of the blooms is almost completely sideways—displaying the view from its top—showcasing its frilly petals in the bright sunshine.

“No discomfort, no expansion.” Thought some of you would enjoy today’s Strange Planet! @blakethebutcher.bsky.social looking at you!

Today’s (October 10) comic on my page-a-day “Strange Planet” calendar featuring funny little aliens, one asking another for a spot on the bench press in a gym. Alien 2: “No discomfort, no expansion.”

Oh nice! I won these in an auction for charity years ago. Are you bidding on any?

Two framed pieces of working animation art for the series The Venture Brothers

Actual rough production art of the character Colonel Gentleman from The Venture Bros. This character is a take off of Sean Connery. The character is injured sitting on the ground. Part of the artwork was redrawn on PostIts applied on top.

This is one sexy flower blooming right now in the yard. Not AI and not enhanced; iPhone photo.

A dazzling bearded iris flower caught partially open with rich neutral orange and yellow standards (the upright petals), and bright yellow, white and maroon red falls (downward petals). Veins of the red contrast against the bright yellow & white on the falls in a zebra hide effect. The falls are also edged with the bright yellow while the fuzzy caterpillar-like beard at their heart is bright orange.

Basquiat was really making a political statement with his Ferris Wheel plus there’s a great Miles Davis song that plays when it starts to move! And Haring’s carousel is delightful

Enjoyed the Luna Luna Exhibit in LA this past weekend. It’s definitely worth seeing if you are a fan of Pop Art+ and the work of Haring, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Dali, etc. Here’s me being silly with my new friend, a Kenny Scharf character.

Me with a silly grin, one arm up and the other down, trying to mimick the pose of a very geometric red cartoonish figure by the pop surrealist (as he referred to himself) Kenny Scharf. The figure was one of several made for the Luna Luna artist amusement park project in Germany during the mid 1980s.

Have a little happy holiday everyone!

Our menagerie of a Christmas tree decorated with everything including Japanese birds, ornaments of toys, lots of Disney characters, handmade glittery acorn ornaments … etc., etc. The topper is a little Santa in his sled being pulled by three reindeer that actually rotates around a huge lit star.

Close up of the train around the base of the Christmas tree. It’s actually a replica of Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster train but we have a Mr. Toad figure operating it in the cab. The two cars behind are filled with Totoros, Tina from Bob’s Burgers, a little fox and of course Santa and his sack of gifts. Inside the loop of track there is a hunky guy decked out in holiday speedos and hat only surrounded by two festive penguins being narrowly missed by Luca (from the film Luca) on a Vespa; behind them in a little distance is a cute version of Godzilla with an expression either of mayhem or excitement.
