Two U.S. Digital Corps Fellows—Annie Tor and Luke Neureiter—spent the last few years supporting HRSA and increasing its ability to exercise effective oversight. Last August, HRSA published a public dashboard quantifying rates of organs allocated out of sequence... and now AOOS rates have *halved*.
A line chart titled "Allocation out of sequence (all organs)" showing a steady increase in AOOS between 2019 and 2025, peaking at 20% before decreasing in mid-2025. There is a dashed vertical line near the inflection point, with the legend "AOOS public dashboard published (August 2025)."

Kudos to the elections team at @sfgov.sf.gov for very clear ballot tracking info!
Tracking info from SF Elections with step by step information with date and time stamps, concluding with "9. On 05-30-2026, your ballot for the June 2, 2026, Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election was counted!"

Exhibits A and B on how car-centric Atlanta is — no functional transit to the relatively new ballpark district, and a public safety alert for a highway closure (have never experienced the latter anywhere else)
Screenshot from Claude:

Tier 4: Transit exists only in name — car is basically required
• Truist Park (ATL) - CobbLinc circulator buses only; no rail, no MARTA; Cobb County has blocked rail for 60 years
• Globe Life Field (TEX, Arlington) - hotel trolley only; Arlington has essentially zero public transit Stadium Scene
• Kauftman Stadium (KC) - bus service exists on paper; Kansas City's transit is minimal; surface parking sea defines the experience
• Sutter Health Park (OAK/Athletics,
Sacramento) - Sacramento light rail has a nearby stop, a silver lining, but this is a temporary minor league park

Huge UX improvement - shoutout Google Calendar. No longer need to figure out "what time zone is this city in?" It's the small chef's kiss things...
Screenshot from Google Calendar dialog box to select Event Time Zone. It now has option to "Type to search for a city or country" instead of just the names of the time zones.

One of my personal unexplained mysteries: why the State of California posts jobs with salaries listed "per month" and not annually. I've only ever seen this on California jobs, and I'd bet good money that most people immediately go and multiply by 12... In this case: courts.ca.gov/job/senior-a...
Pay and Benefits

$7,941 - $11,912 per month

Please note due to statewide fiscal conditions, the posted salary range is subject to a temporary 3% reduction. In exchange for this temporary reduction, judicial branch employees accrue an additional 5 hours of paid personal leave per month through June 30, 2027.

This is a hell of a lede. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/19/r...
Applicants to the community are screened with an in-person interview, a criminal-background check, a questionnaire about ancestral heritage and sometimes even photographs of their relatives.

The community’s two architects — a classically trained French horn player who has livestreamed his own sex videos, and a former jazz pianist arrested but not charged for attempted murder in Ecuador — say they must personally confirm that applicants are white before they can be welcomed in.

“Non-hazardous” 🤨 This is not a story of green energy vs. oil and gas — it’s a story of big businesses not caring about their employees’ health.
WE LIVE ON A RADIOACTIVE PLANET. Soil, rocks, and even the air we breathe and the water we drink contain what’s called background radiation. Oil and gas extraction bring to the surface some of Earth’s most interesting, and notorious, radioactive elements. Radium levels in the deposits accumulated on the inside of oil and gas pipes can be 400,000 times those of background radiation. Yet radioactive oil and gas waste, unlike that from the nuclear and medical industries, is not regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The Environmental Protection Agency does not regulate it either. In fact, a sweeping 1980 federal exemption—the Bentsen and Bevill Amendments to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act—defines radioactive oil and gas field waste as “non-hazardous.”

Love seeing the long-tail power of Coding it Forward in charting careers in civic tech! blog.codingitforward.com/community-ce...
What keeps you working in public interest technology?
The communities and the people. I’m always thinking about the specific communities I’m designing content for. Right now, that’s riders in the Greater Boston area. Everyone I work with is so committed to making sure riders have access to the resources they need and trust our services.

It reminds me of that first school club I joined at UCLA, designing for nonprofits. I loved getting to learn about the communities those nonprofits worked with. Public interest tech for me is about the people, the communities, and getting to know them better — that relationship gives me energy.

Apple Intelligence is going great: The Patriots and Dolphins did not tie and, no, Jaylen Brown did not have 108 points. You’d think sports scores are a very common use case that’d be solved for before shipping a product, but 🤷‍♂️
