Hard to believe we’re still, somehow, in the app phase of government service delivery? It’d be nice if, oh, we had a design system that helped agencies make accessible, mobile-friendly websites for all… we could even call it the U.S. Web Design System… fedscoop.com/irs-launches...

Users can check refund statuses, balance statements and more in the app that replaces IRS2Go and that the agency’s CEO says advances the IRS’s “digital-first agenda.”

Obviously not all of the decrease in AOOS can be attributed to Annie and Luke; there's a fantastic team at at HRSA and much of the work is the legacy of years (decades?) of advocacy, perhaps by no one more so than Jennifer Erickson. See this Statecraft piece: www.statecraft.pub/p/how-to-sto...

Two U.S. Digital Corps Fellows—Annie Tor and Luke Neureiter—spent the last few years supporting HRSA and increasing its ability to exercise effective oversight. Last August, HRSA published a public dashboard quantifying rates of organs allocated out of sequence... and now AOOS rates have *halved*.
A line chart titled "Allocation out of sequence (all organs)" showing a steady increase in AOOS between 2019 and 2025, peaking at 20% before decreasing in mid-2025. There is a dashed vertical line near the inflection point, with the legend "AOOS public dashboard published (August 2025)."

One example in the NYT by @brianmrosenthal.bsky.social, from last February. Almost 20% of organs were being given outside the established priority order, essentially skipping those in the most dire need. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

There are 103K+ people on the US organ transplant waiting list. In the past few years there has been sustained negative media and Congressional attention: lost organs, donor organs going unrecovered, untransplanted, or offered to someone other than the person at the top of the waiting list, etc.
