I do recall many people being high-ish on Fedde at the time.

He’s full of shit but I guess at least he’s smart enough not to excitedly promise that people will be replaced.

All sorts of real world ramifications too. Does everyone repeat a year of college? How is that paid for? What about non-wealthy families who sacrifice/work extra for private school. Young parents suddenly have +1 year of a toddler at home before they can go to Pre-k at 5 vs 4yo bc pre-k is full.

I had kids in high school and middle school during the remote year and while I didn’t like it and wouldn’t want to do it again, I think they still came out capable enough. Don’t think the answer is/was to restructure everyone’s lives long term. Many other ways it could’ve been handled better.

Hanna Barbera cartoons don’t feel of a piece with this world because they were created in and leaked to us from an alternate reality. Snagglepuss is the exception. He was created post-leak.

I would be perfectly happy if this was the position of a lot of tech bros.

Yes, I realize that’s what you’re arguing. Even accepting that (I don’t), I’m asking why quote something inaccurate and simply say it seems reasonable without noting the inaccuracy? Never mind “precious liberal arts degrees”. Come on.

Minas Tirith City Planner @chrisker.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Why would one quote a tweet that misrepresents something and then say “seems reasonable”?

The Rally Squirrel was immortalized on the #STLCards World Series rings later that fall. You can see it below the red STL and above the home plate.

Seems like Letterboxd ought to be able to default to tmdb’s default, which doesn’t appear to be this one. And if not they should get with TMDB about making that an option.

I suspect an underrated thing about “toy” movies (Barbie, Lego, Minecraft, D&D, etc) is writers can just go wild. There’s little lore to adhere to, no fanbase to ream you out for betraying the text, and studios probably don’t know what the hell they want.

Yep.If people feel better by boycotting I think that’s fine, but it won’t be noticed, won’t be recognized as a boycott and won’t fix anything. There’s one way to deal with this and it’s government - tax, regulate, etc…

Sonny Gray had elite third time through numbers in 2026 He was brutally bad third time through in 2025 Given the extreme unlikelihood that he discovered a magic elixir to an issue that's plagued basically every starter ever, you've got to treat this all as noise

This feels like someone telling me (in IT) to just go search Microsoft's messy, link heavy support site and find the solution to a problem, and how to implement it. The time sink is always finding the solution (which often involves cross-referencing other sites), not testing it out.

Anyway, same concern. Not a fan of banking on multiple prospects working out.

010

Minas Tirith City Planner @chrisker.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Honestly I don’t see why you can’t start. It’s not hard to improve on at least one of McGreevy/Pallante/Leahy while you wait on the possibility of your prospects bubbling up in mayyybe a year from now.

Minas Tirith City Planner @chrisker.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I wonder if it's worthwhile. ~25% of his starts were vs lefties, and ~30% of his PAs. That seems pretty typical. Then a little over half those 206 PA's were against relievers, and he'd be seeing most of those regardless. Do you bring him in and then sit Herrera/whoever once the starter gets chased?

I used to defend SM in general, but the more I take time away from it lately, the better I feel about life. And what's true here is true of reddit. The more you focus on specific communities, the better. Sometimes the firehose is fine (breaking news) but most of the time it's a rage generator.

This one really threw me. “billions of sharks”

The most destructive movie ever made leading to the deaths of billions of sharks, damage to ocean ecosystem they regulate as apex predators. Sharks are still undeservedly feared, killed, because of Jaws. There is no forgiveness for the damage done purely for human entertainment and monetary profit.
