My friend @mjrobbins.com has produced an outstanding new video which is, in a very literal sense, a massive pile of garbage. It’s like You Can See Everything but with rampant methane and bureaucratic inertia instead of Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes. Behold the Rainham volcano!

The panel picked five out of my six choices, so I’m v happy. My only note is I would have swapped out the Strout for the Riley. If you ever want to go mad, watch a load of BookTube videos and see what they say about The Palm House (spoiler: they all fucking hate it).

So pleasing. (I love this shortlist generally tbh.)

This picture of the Pope at his 40th birthday party is everything to me.x
The Pope at his crazy as fuck 40th birthday party wearing a tiny sea captain hat, holding a tiny ice cream surrounded by THREE sad looking balloons. He's wearing a blue jacket and jeans with a brown belt and he's got a navy polo shirt on.

I got very lucky this year and managed to book everything on my wish list. I haven’t a clue if this is useful or not, but here’s what I did. Caveat: I am an *exceptionally* boring person who loves a spreadsheet. 😃

It’s frustrating, I know, but the reality is that most of the more high profile screenings at #LFF (and certainly the stuff in smaller rooms like BFI and Vue) *always* sell out during the member window. BFI membership is £40 a year, and comes with two free tickets to BFI Southbank. Big recommend.

Website says sold out. No idea if they put any more tickets on sale for general booking though so still worth giving it a go, maybe. 😬

Low-key #LFF Surprise Film option nobody seems to be talking about: Ghosts: The Possession of Button House. (Concede that I Play Rocky, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, Everybody Wants to F*ck Me, Bucking Fastard are all more likely. Ruling out You Can See Everything because it’s too long.)

Join me for a skeetalong-a- #PendasFen this Wednesday night when BBC4 reruns it from 10.15pm. Behind the scenes stories, pics and things to spot. If you've seen the play before, then follow live. If it's new to you, give it proper attention and then join the # on catch up. Link in bio to the book.

Have you ever read Night at Camp David? A delicious piece of pulp fiction that depicts a president going mad. Iirc Paul Greengrass has been trying to adapt and film it for years, but the project hit the skids in recent times for, erm, obvious reasons. www.amazon.co.uk/Night-Camp-D...

It's a lovely, ridiculous comedy show that reaches Taskmaster heights of loopy invention. You can find the first two series of Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee (Australian version) on the iPlayer and I think you'll very probably fall in love. What a true gem.
