It reminded me a lot of things TOKYOPOP tries to do.

New Hellboy story from Hell from @darkhorse.com? Yes, please!

The other plumbing frustration was getting a thermostat changed, and went from a programmable one to one that's either on or off. DO NOT LIKE. Gonna just upgrade that myself. Frustrating as hell. Why would you downgrade a customer?

Chris Beveridge @chrisbeveridge.bsky.social · 7h

Really NOT pleased with that, nor the solution of cutting a square from elsewhere to replace it because that's just additional issues. Short term is finding a decent large bathroom rug, which was needed anyway. But frustrating.

Chris Beveridge @chrisbeveridge.bsky.social · 7h

So, mixed results overall. Electrical didn't get something on the estimate that I wanted, my fault for not looking more closely. Was trying to add ceiling outlets because the basement has NO outlets throughout it. Wasn't on it, didn't get done. Plumber dropped his torch, scored the bathroom vinyl.

The guy does seem to have gotten a number projects off the ground while at Playstation Productions, and those take time and effort. So we might see something with this in about four of five years, but mostly just live-action works. Which could be fun, but still. Fans are usually leery.

I mean, hell, I've read the article like four times and it doesn't really say anything. I know you can just basically repeat what they're saying, but there's not much to even rework into an article about it. "We're gonna do some stuff. We're going to honor stuff." and that's kind of it.

So like I keep wanting to float the idea that there's a major unspoken current in American politics where like nine different things are coded versions of "people are angry that they can't control their kids/grandkids' thoughts and lives" but then here it seems to have broken out into being explicit

As long as there are new Grendel books, I'm reading new Grendel books. So glad @darkhorse.com continues to work this property with Wagner.

Welp, no surprise that the plumbers have missed their window with no contact yet. Hoping it still happens today. I know these places are understaffed, overworked, and they lean into having to deal with sudden disaster clients, but still.

And our second NCBD review has @sargonparidius.bsky.social checking in on this new @zenescope.bsky.social release as they're back to releasing regular books!

The electrical is the company that built our addition - but they stopped all construction work to just do electrical now as I get the sense that the business is winding down. Plumbing is through RJ Curley, who has been around forever here and solidly reliable.

Chris Beveridge @chrisbeveridge.bsky.social · 11h

It's just annoying as the whole basement has just one outlet there other than the outlet for the washing machine. It's not a huge thing, the lighting is the key part, but I was trying to future proof some.

010

Chris Beveridge @chrisbeveridge.bsky.social · 12h

Alright, electrical done, but there was a miscommunication with the estimate from the assessment that annoys me. Was fixing basement lighting and having hardwired lighting put in. I wanted it to have outlets in the ceiling as well (open), but that didn't make it onto estimate and I missed that.

Still very much digging this @madcavestudios.com series that has one more issue to go. Old West, drama, and supernatural? Yes, please.

i've got 2 contractors coming today and the first is already late. Not looking like a fun day. (electrical repair that has been put off too long, and two plumbing issues to deal with. joy)

Since we get a lot of advance review comics more than we do for anime and manga, we've got seven new reviews going live today from a trio of publishers with a lot of very fun books. Always glad for NCBD!

The only one I saw was the Evangelion 4K, and it was hella impressive. Older films will see some, and I heard Perfect Blue was quite good, but I didn't pick it up myself (I've got SO MANY COPIES).

Time slaps you upside the head. I have old episodes of Whose Line running in the background today from the first season in 1999. And they have a woman come up for Wayne to sing to. She's 19 in this. That was 27 years ago.

reinforcing the idea that "the media" has been one of the biggest failures of this century in doing their job. It was evident enough during the 2000 election fiasco, and has spiraled harder since, culminating in this moment where you eyeroll so hard it actually hurts.
