My hot take on this is that comedies, out and out ones that is, shouldn't be on lists like this. Comedies tend to date very quickly and what can capture a moment in say 2001 looks tired and dull buy 2026

Yeah I wonder if we've reached a point of no return with towns like this. Actual anarchy while the authorities are so terrified of any sort of confrontation or condemnation

This is just a modern twist on an old joke isn't it? "I don't know who he is, but his IT support guy's the Pope!"

Fair play to the wife of a Caribbean man and mother of mixed race children being informed by the BBC reporter that she’s in the minority in her community regarding immigration and responding with, “Yes, I’m surrounded by bigots.”

My low-key conspiracy theory is that the LLM in Google's search results is deliberately underpowered to make LLMs as a whole look bad and to set expectations lower, as well as make competitors look bad by association (yes I know the actual reason is cost & speed)

I don't doubt they are snivelling little freaks for one second, but isn't the whole reason they call themselves "race realists" not just a euphemism, but so you reply "what's a race realist?" and they get a chance to do their bit?

The problem with this kind of person is they are unparodyable, their narcissism and eagerness to provoke means they can never be outdone

Actually surprised there hasn't been a big dumb heist movie where the only opportunity for when the theft can be made is during totality of a solar eclipse

Extremely amused to see there is a 6K-strong London WhatsApp group of people trying to find eclipse glasses for tomorrow, like an astronomy nerd version of the 2021 Wembley Jib

Having just returned from a holiday & a climb of Ben Nevis, the sight of the summit radicalised me - graffiti and stickers everywhere, even a padlock on the trig point - all twee shit like this should be classed for what it is which is just posh littering

May be just a coincidence but lately have seen an uptick of posts of what perhaps should be called "reverse bank of mum and dad" - adult children being asked to bail out their parents by buying property for them to live in (while also having to manage their own housing costs)

Hysterical to me that the biggest bogeyman in America right now, what gets even the most milquetoast liberals manning the barricades and calling for direct action, is... a company that makes ANPR cameras. Absolutely car-brained to death

Much of the coverage of Ann Widdecombe's death is just voyeurism justified by the fact she was a politician and it may therefore be a 'political' story. Think it's just crass rubbernecking featuring frankly excessive detail in many cases.

You'd never go broke overestimating how po-faced the UK rightwing commentariat is. There's a thin-skinnedness there, combined with a determination that as long as they're not having fun, no one can, that can only come from being constantly online
