I'm very proud of this chart 🤓 great presentation by my colleague @hlrandolph.bsky.social at the Social Policy Association conference this morning in York. Our recent work shows the scale of the challenge for meeting Scotland's child poverty targets using microsimulation modelling.

Belated happy new year as I took an extended break this winter! Feeling mentally ready to get stuck back into projects (though physically knackered as I did a 2hr dance workshop yesterday that was way above the level I expected 😅)

It's craft night 😊
A photo of a pot of tea with a cute floral tea cosy, a vintage tea cup filled with tea, and my latest crochet project which is a navy blanket. Pictured on a café table.

Should be taken with caution as LFS sample size is much lower than before, but had a quick look at reasons for '1 in 8 young people inactive' news stats. Most common was long term disabled who did not want a job, followed by those looking after family/home who don't want a job. (1/2)

Had my first dosa last night, still thinking about it (highly recommend Dakhin for any Glasgow locals)
A picture of a restaurant table with a dosa on a plate. Dosa is a giant savoury pancake rolled up and filled with spiced fillings from India. It is much larger than the standard sized plate!

Every worker deserves a wage that covers their needs. But 45% of Scotland's hospitality workers didn't get the real Living Wage in 2023. This blog from our Laura Robertson and @chirstyresearch.bsky.social of @fraserofallander.bsky.social points a way forward. www.povertyalliance.org/blog-embeddi...

"The Committee agrees that urgent and tangible intervention is necessary if the Scottish Government is to achieve its aim of halving the disability employment gap by 2038 [...] the Scottish Government must now deliver a concrete action plan at a scale and pace that the target demands." 👏
