Donating blood for the first time since 2003... and my ID card is still active! This means that I not only earned a 1st Donation sticker, but also my 10th Donation pin! (Yes, these are rookie numbers!)

METRIC cranked up the speakers and the light show like a house party just before the cops show up! (alas, my phone hit 2% by then so I had to put it away)

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE was a travelling feast, with 14 folks on stage at one point. Great vibes.

My recent media nostalgia is covering 1998-2003 or so... the time just before fatherhood / just before the turn of my career. My latest acquisition: IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE, because I couldn't stop thinking about Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung after rewatching HERO.

EMMA is far funnier, Emma more cheekily oblivious, and the narrator much sharper than I recalled from my first reading these 30ish years ago. But the age gap ick still holds, I'm afraid. (and now I want her to appear in the Austen Murder Mysteries by Tirzah Price)

Paperback edition of EMMA set on an orange couch. Features an orange teacup with a cameo and a blue plate.

Bought the most recent TPB of the original Shooter/Zeck SECRET WARS because I realized I don't have my original issues anymore. I can't say the Alex Ross cover is an improvement on the original (which is an unusual thing to say!)

Mike Zeck cover for MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS #10, featuring Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Human Torch, Nightcrawler, Captain Marvel, Storm, Colossus, Thing, Rogue, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Cyclops, Wasp, Captain America and Wolverine in various action poses

Alex Ross painted cover of the original Secret Wars #1 cover, but the lighting and reflections are not at all to my taste

As it stands now, whatever is happening at Marvel/DC has passed me by, so I'm picking up a slice of Godzilla revival books. The kids are reading the Power Rangers line, the Absolute books, a lot of Flash, and the Berserk tomes as they come out. And they have full run of my TPB shelf and the boxes.

I picked up this tpb of the classic X-Men Mutant Massacre storyline for a song. Guess why the cover enrages me. Go on, guess!

Slapdash cover design for an X-Men Milestones: Mutant Massacre trade, featuring classic vignettes from the storyline, Mister Sinister, and Gambit for no goddam reason.

26 years ago, I received the wildest gift from a former employer, and I almost immediately got crafty with it.

In 1995ish, I took a screenwriting class with Michel Choquette, who used to contribute to National Lampoon among other creative endeavours. On the final class, he showcased some of his comics work (incl pages by Neal Adams! what the heck!) and spoke about a project he called THE SOMEDAY FUNNIES.

Did one of those Voter Compass surveys and I landed pretty much where I thought - I'd be full QS if they drop the independence angle. But otherwise my provincial politics are simple: Undo the damage to Quebec's social fabric done by the CAQ. Repeal 96. Repeal 21 & 9. Cancel notwithstanding clause

The two gentlemen from Japan gifted a box of Wizards and a box of Dragons boosters, so we arranged for a Sealed Deck/Draft mini-tournament. I ended up with enough cards for a respectable King Under the Mountain deck, and I still have that deck today. 8/
