The only advice I give anymore when it comes to longevity in the video game industry is “never go public, and never sell.” If you go public, the shareholders and MBAs will rot you from the inside. If you sell, they’ll throw you out with the gypsum once they’ve stripped the copper out of the walls.

I even have a specific moment. In Morrowind, just North-East of Balmora, there is a mob spawn. I'm like 7 y.o. playing at night. My character is Level 1, walking outside of the city at night, it's raining. I'm VERY scared. This rat fucks my shit up over and over until I go do something else. GOTY.
