Chirag Mehta @chirag.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Companies not hiring "enough" junior devs is a flawed assumption. Junior devs are still getting hired and arguably don't have the baggage. They have seen no two ways. The entire dev pyramid is being disrupted and redefined as companies figure out who can and should do what work. 021

Chirag Mehta @chirag.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Certain non-academia jobs do pay well if you're a PhD. AI researchers fall into that category. For a lot of domains PhD becomes too narrow and specific for a non-academia career. Even for a career in academia it feels like it's a significant investment at a young age where you might not be sure. 000

On average, folks have been on the job market a lot longer. Engineers who can adapt have fared better. Eng Mgrs not so much and non-technical roles have been a lot harder to land. 031

Chirag Mehta @chirag.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I learned a hard lesson a few years ago. If you buy something from Costco and if you like it just go and buy more of the same. High chances the same item never shows up again and it is likely going to cost more regardless of low or high inflation. I have done this with wine, clothing, and... socks. 020

Chirag Mehta @chirag.bsky.social · 16/06/2026"Draw" and "Tie" don't have the same meaning in many sports. In cricket, a tie would imply that teams score even and then rules decide how to break (or not to break) the tie. A draw means "no result." Chess, too. I would argue that a "tie" in soccer, if not resolved, would result in a "draw." 000
