one of my favourite art pieces is Electric Fan, and the amount of people i've tentatively shown it to and seen them immediately roll their eyes and go "i could do that". you didn't. and you never will. because you didn't have something to say, and you didn't want to share it with the world.

this is really fucking odd advice because art, fundamentally, is a conversation. all forms of art are an artist just saying "this is how i feel/i thought this was worth saying", and sometimes asking "is this how you feel too?". it is, a lot of the time, how we communicate with the world.

you have to be your own biggest fan. you can be aware of flaws in your work and areas you can improve, but you have to love what you're creating more than a hypothetical audience ever could. you need to be able to look back at your work and say "i put in the work and made that, because i love it".

due to ~reasons~ i have had to be off my antidepressants for a few weeks, and i'm noticing for the first time in years that i actually have the urge to draw again quite consistently. or at least draw/write/create etc in that ballpark.

wild of me to start a webcomic called Clockwork where the main character's nickname is Cog and the entire thing has NOTHING to do with steampunk

i've had readers ask if my lies within reboot will go on webtoon and the answer is a resounding: no. i don't care if you only read comics on the Corporate App. that's a skill issue. i'm not writing for a platform. go to my web site or don't.

the older I get and the more I learn about artists I look up to, the more I believe that you absolutely need at least one impossible to fully repress freaky fixation or kink to be a true genius

I don’t “network,” I make friends. Other artists are not my competition, they’re my beloved peers and sources of inspiration. We all have the same goal; to share our art. I’m not gonna corporatize my human relationships with them. I am in my sandbox playing and I hope they join me.

just reached garlemald again on my new ff14 playthrough, i will never forget how angry and weird people got about this zone and its story line. people got so mad about the garleans not just shutting up and accepting our help and its like brother. this entire zone is a commentary on propaganda.
