Kanyʌhtowa•nʌ Cheyenne Reuben-Thomas @cheyennethomas.bsky.social · 14/05/2025Thankfully, these cicadas started emerging as the Onondaga were facing homelessness and starvation. The cicadas helped them gain strength to persevere and rebuild, and they remain a strong community today. I am always happy to hear their songs and continue to give thanks for each emergence. 040
Kanyʌhtowa•nʌ Cheyenne Reuben-Thomas @cheyennethomas.bsky.social · 14/05/2025Cicadas were a gift from Creator to help our Onondaga relatives survive after the path of destruction left by the Sullivan Campaign. Unfortunately, this was one of many instances where fire was weaponized against our people, with orders to burn down Haudenosaunee longhouses, villages, and crops. 150
