Kudlow on Fox today: "Has the Marist poll ever, in any state, for any office, ever come out and said the Republican is going to win?" Kellyanne Conway: "Definitely not in the Trump era, Larry, which spans 10 or 11 years." Incredible how lazy these people are. Three 2024 Marist headlines attached.

Chemist Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar in 1965. In a 40+ year career, her work in polymer chemistry ultimately revolutionized personal body armor, industrial engineering & space exploration. Fourth woman inducted, National Inventors Hall of Fame, 1994. She was born #OTD in 1923. #WomenInSTEM
Fun color photograph of pioneering American chemist Stephanie Kwolek (1923–2014), the inventor of Kevlar, taken in her later years. She is indoors in what appears to be a home or lab setting with soft lighting and kitchen-like background elements. Kwolek, an older woman with short gray hair, wears large round eyeglasses, a light plaid blouse or dress with a white collar, and holds up a bright yellow circular button that reads "ASK ME ABOUT KEVLAR" in bold black lettering. On her hand she wears thick yellow Kevlar protective gloves (the very material she invented), one glove prominently displayed in the foreground as she grips the button. Her expression is gentle, proud, and welcoming, with a slight smile, embodying her lifelong dedication to science, safety, and innovation as she invites conversation about her groundbreaking discovery that revolutionized bullet-resistant vests, tires, helmets, and countless other applications.

Historian of science Margaret Rossiter (b #OTD in 1944) coined the term #MatildaEffect (1993). Named after suffragist Matilda Joslyn Gage, the Matilda Effect describes a systemic bias where women's scientific achievements are ignored, minimized, or directly attributed to their male colleagues. 1/3
A black-and-white photograph of the pathbreaking American historian of science, Margaret Walsh Rossiter (1944–2025), renowned for coining "the Matilda effect" and documenting the buried history of women in science. Seated in an indoor setting with a soft, blurred background, Rossiter is positioned from the waist up, facing forward with a warm, open smile. She has short, curly gray hair and wears dark, thick-rimmed glasses. She's wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved shirt patterned entirely with small, dark polka dots. She holds a heavy, open book resting on her lap or desk, her left hand steadying the right-hand pages while her right hand rests on the left-hand pages, lightly gripping a pencil. The overall composition is intimate and studious, casting her as an approachable yet deeply focused scholar. The mood is intellectually vibrant and welcoming, reflecting a life dedicated to uncovering the truth.

A 4-step diagram shows refrigeration cycles: 1) Compressor pressurizes vapor, 2) Condenser vents warm air, 3) Expansion valve creates a cold mist, and 4) Evaporator cools passing air. Below, it compares "Current Refrigerants" (CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs) with their ozone depletion (ODP) and global warming potentials (GWP), and "The Next Generation" options like HFOs and CO2.
