Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

What a fucking joke. Every guardrail is gone as the oligarchy bends to the will of the authoritarian.

Legacy media outlets ignoring the Trump and Melania crypto scams, which at any other time with any other incoming Admin would be one of the biggest scandals in political history, shows how lost and unprepared they are for what is about to happen. They’re covering this like a reality show.

"Masculine Energy"
Panel 1: Mark Zuckerberg stands on the stage at a Meta all-hands meeting, wearing a little chain and a shirt that says "Cool Dude." "I think our company could use more Masculine Energy," he says into a mic. In the crowd, an employee raises their hand. "Excuse me, Mr. Zuckerberg," the person asks. Panel 2: The person stands up, asking, "By "Masculine Energy," do you mean a mature definition where men in power use their relative strength to protect and uplift those less privileged?" Panel 3: The person continues, "…or a more childish definition where men in power are free to be aggressive and harm others without being held accountable?" Panel 4: Zuck stands silent for a beat. Panel 5: "You're all fired," he says.

The key takeaway is that the world’s richest man got what he wanted; stripped our cancer funding for kids, killed reforms to bring down drugs prices and caps on investment in China. Trump on the other hand demanded a debt ceiling raise and got nothing.

Republican women annoyed GOP Congress won't let them run committees: report
For the first time since the 114th Republican-led Congress, it appears that there won't be any women leading House committees, Bloomberg Government reported. Republicans have already named who they intend to take over each committee, but it won't be…

“For one Cabinet nominee to be accused of sexual impropriety may be regarded as misfortune. For two Cabinet nominees to be thus accused looks like carelessness,” Quinta Jurecic writes. “For four—well, that moves beyond carelessness into outright malice”:

I agree. There are some on the landscape who I think in some way are compromised… that is to say impelled by someone else’s hidden leverage over them into their behavior. Turl ey. Grah am. Dersh owitz. Sen. Johnson. Maybe Ru bio. Trump himself.

It may not be irrelevant that Bessent is not only pro-crypto, as it appears that the whole team around PMT (Pvtin, Mvsk, Trump) is, but he is reported to have been on the Sor os team in 1992That broke the British pound.

And tracker. I’m skeptical of an account that is following 4000 accounts, let alone 14,000 accounts. If someone can explain to me what the utility is to following 4000 accounts, that isn’t big data tracking, I’d like to hear it. 3/3

If you have a follower that is following thousands upon thousands of accounts, it’s not a follower. It’s a tracker. And it may be positioned as an ally in order to track allied networks. It could even be of a hostile intelligence service. I don’t know what the cut off is between real follower 2/

Long ago, I attended a briefing on the means by which big data is gathered on social media, and influencers identified for the purposes of targeting. Since then, I’ve had no interest in my modest influence being tracked, and recommend the same for you. 1/

I regret to think the world has changed. I think Pvtin, Musk, Trump et al are gunning to take down the dollar, which is why crypto is going thru the roof. The dollar itself is in danger. That changes calculations. But Crypto pricing is still speculative and untethered.

I agree. Pam Bondi was, like Flynn, leading chants in 2016 of “locker up” at the Republican national convention, which unAmerican slogan I regard as having been born in Mosc0w. For every nominee ask how that nominee would satisfy not Trump, but Pvtin.

Nancy Mace spent the entire day ranting about a trans woman member of Congress, who hasn't assaulted a soul, using the same bathroom as her. Not a peep about the guy credibly accused of paying for sex with a minor. Disgusting hypocrisy.

I have tended to watch Morning Joe, although it has long since stopped bringing it policy makers on, and become the same group of talking heads morning after morning. But at least I felt there was some integrity. It appears to me They’re bending the knee now. A sign of personal or business fear.

A chart of the U.S. Senate popular vote and the population represented by each party from 1990 to 2024. Republicans have won the Senate in 7 of the last 13 elections starting with the year 2000 despite continually winning fewer collective votes and representing fewer Americans than Democrats.

Pete Hegseth’s tattoos are the ones that white nationalists get. Federal law enforcement know these symbols well. Hegseth was banned from national guard duty at Biden’s inauguration for those tattoos. The Senate should consider this disqualifying for a nominee for Secretary of Defense—will they?
