The EU and Canada plan to announce a new economic and strategic partnership at their upcoming summit in October, according to a draft joint statement published by POLITICO on 30 September. “The world is rapidly changing with unprecedented geopolitical challenges as well as challenges across trade, energy, technology, climate, and resources,” the draft said, which was provided to EU ambassadors in preparation for the 29 October summit. “Canada and the EU, with our unparalleled trade access, shared values, and complementary economic strengths, can build a deeper and more integrated relationship,” the draft added.
