Kind of a buried lede in the results of this Supreme Court approval rating poll from Marquette: Overall support for Supreme Court expansion, which even Democratic politicians were dismissing as "radical" just a few years ago, is now at 53 percent today.marquette.edu/2026/09/marq...

It's obviously true that errors by elections officials increase fuel/fodder for people who are distrustful of elections. But whether they actually increase the number of those people is a separate question, and the answer to that seems a lot less obvious to me?

Phil Weiser launched his campaign in January 2025, and his #1 — and I don't think it's that much of a stretch to say *only*? — idea for boosting housing construction is lowering permitting fees. Macroeconomically speaking it's like something from another planet.
All Coloradans deserve a safe, affordable place to call home. Yet too many families are forced to choose between housing and essentials like childcare or healthcare. As governor, I will:

Boost homes Coloradans can afford, increasing attainable owner-occupied homes by 40,000, closing the current gap on the shortfall on such homes by 50%.
Speed up permitting and partner with local governments to lower fees for affordable homes available for sale under $600,000.
Cut red tape to streamline state processes.
Expand down payment assistance to support first-time homebuyers—especially essential workers like teachers, nurses, and first responders.
Protect renters from unfair practices and keep affordable units available.
Ensure that out-of-state corporate investors don’t mistreat Colorado families.
Ban algorithmic price collusion by corporate landlords.

They had very good polling on a potential 2024 ballot measure but didn't pull the trigger, out of extreme caution. Finalized the joint service plan and then shrank the district, out of even more extreme caution. And at the 1-yard line this happens. Extremely funny, sorry!

Gov. Polis and the advisors he put in charge of FRPR have for years been *extremely* sensitive to the voting public's FasTracks PTSD. Not an exaggeration that basically every major decision the district has made since its inception was designed to address those concerns.

CO-4 (R+9 PVI, 18.3-point Trump '24 margin) is slightly redder than Kansas (R+8 PVI, 16-point Trump '24 margin). But if Boebert has the ~5-point underperformance that she did in both 2022 and 2024, it more than makes up the difference.

At this point I don't think there's much doubt that Bennet sincerely believes this. But he had an entire yearlong campaign for governor to convince Dem voters he could represent something substantively (rather than just tonally) different, and obviously failed quite badly.

The water thing seems mostly overblown/solvable outside the West, but it's ridiculous to say that municipal utilities don't need to sweat decisions at a scale like this because an extremely diffuse constellation of other water managers are making decisions at a much larger aggregate scale.

I've been very negative about Trump lately but he's right to reiterate that "climate change" is basically a hoax. I don't mean the climate doesn't change; of course it does. I mean that 1) we shouldn't assume climate change must be harmful, and 2) we shouldn't assume that the costs of "doing something" now are less, or even only slightly more, than the costs of adapting later should it be necessary. The latter is MUCH smarter policy.
