In our new student orientation session this morning, several folks were very curious about how I was interested both in patristics and John Wesley/Anglican theology, and it made me realize that the tiny bubble of Anglicans doing patristics is perhaps the smallest it's been in 100 years.

Thomas Hinde, in A Field Guide to the English Country Parson (a significantly zoological title), thought that the whole idea of village parsons was a social experiment: "Give a reasonably educated middle-class Englishman a modest income, a house in the country, and job security for life, and see what he will do... This is my first Canada Day as a Canadian citizen. Something folks don’t realize on the outside is that while Canada does some things very well, it’s still a nation where being white and having access to generational wealth has more advantages. Also our PM doesn’t seem to care about climate change.
