I literally work in the heart of San Francisco AI Central. So it gives me great joy to explain what Pope Leo means by ontological. Kids these concepts go back to Greek philosophy. Christian theologians have been in an ongoing conversation about this for 1800 years.

Tumblr-level activism on display here and going after allies. It's performative. Additionally why should anyone listen to you when you have a symbol of literal genocide in your name. The hammer and sickle is a hate symbol. There are actual serious and useful things to do as queer people.

As I often tell people. One of oldest pieces of the Hebrew Bible is "Miriam's Song/Song of the Sea" a song of liberation from a genocidal tyrant-Pharaoh. Miriam went out singing & dancing: “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.”

Doom is a disservice to the struggle and it dishonors the dead like Renee Good and Alex Pretti who gave their lives to protest this Administration and its act.

Everyone coming on my feed and explaining to me that all is lost, I note what I have noted before, that there are no Negro Spirituals entitled, “Welp, I Guess It All Sucks and I Am Giving Up.”

Supergirl was a lot of fun, and VERY 90's splash-page comic book. In the BEST way. It is also about grief, loss, and women and girls getting to share their emotioms with each other, including rage, sorrow, grief, and despair. Give it a shot, you will enjoy.

Sometimes chaplaincy is a contact sport. Healthcare workers face high rates of workplace violence. The bulk of it falls on nurses, CNAs, and other bedside staff and ED staff. Most of my encounters were in the ED. This week I got hit by a cane in a palliative consult. Abrasion+concussion.

Holy Saturday is the day between death and hope. It's the silence before scan results. The quiet before Shahed drones slam into hospitals. The mute plea of starving children. The horror we have no words for. Holy Saturday reminds us God is there too, in Hell pulling people from the literal pit.

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 04/04/2026

For Holy Saturday: "There is great silence on earth today, stillness. The whole earth keeps silent. The earth trembles and is still because God has died and raised up all who have slept ever since the world began. God has died in the flesh-Hell and Death trembles in fear."

Death is normal and natural. Grief is normal and natural. Advanced directives and plannings are vital discussions to have with family and providers.

Death is a common and meaningful experience. ⚓️ A good death is possible and desirable. 🛟 Advance Care Planning is great, and everyone should do it. 🩺 Grief is normal, and it can be treated for better outcomes. 🧠

Seriously. We need a chaplain and social worker to handle them. With several referrals to psych.

010

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

While there is no chaplain on The Pitt. I'll at least get to teach some interns and residents all about chaplaincy and spiritual care this year as part of IDT clinical education. This will also include IPR. This nicely rounds out teaching CPE intensive and fall cohort.

040

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

A chaplain would attempt to make things functional. 😂 Also I don't care. When they are all on the locked unit on season 3 a chaplain could easily do IPR with them.

040

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

This right here. They've given them that job while also exploring PTSD and moral injury and burnout. Realistically on the show you can't have a chaplain because also this our job and to be *intimately* aware of our issues. Thanks to IPR!

030

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Right exactly. Like no it's not a documentary, but the reality is as chaplains we'd be right in the middle of all this. Like especially after last week.

010

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Social worker not a chaplain. Though our roles can overlap in some capacities they are different.

110

Chaplain Dollar Tree Darth Vader @chaplaindarth.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Chaplains aren't on The Pitt. We are present in traumas, codes, for dying patients. We work with patients and families ane as liaisons between ED staff and family. We provide support to staff dealing with: PTSD, trauma, and moral injury. You see why we aren't on the show. 💀

The sad irony is the creator of that tech that lost his mom is mired in complicated grief and it is in fact destroying his life based on the article. Dying is the most human thing as is mourning and grieving. Grief isn't a flaw to be fixed.

I'm a clinical pastoral educator. That's the fancy title to say I chaplain students (CPE students.) There is not nearly enough work done around the unethical aspects of AI. Yet chaplains are out here blithely using AI casually. I'm one of the 1st instructors to talk about AI.

The surge in Minneapolis may be winding down. However ICE/CBP has just swapped tactics like they did in LA. Hitting smaller towns and cities targeting isolated individuals and small groups with fewer agents in places like: Coon Rapids, Rochester, Duluth etc.
