For years I thought PJ Harvey's "Rid Of Me" had a line that said "I'm gonna lick your interface" but it's "I'm gonna lick your injuries" which makes a ton more sense. TBF, the whole album has some interesting scifi undertones/themes

IMHO he knows he's the designated villain. The club elected him to say the shit out loud, while Anthropic et al continue to chisel away at our society and rights while appearing to be "better" by comparison. Net result is everyone in the club benefits, and the rest of humanity pays

I'm not but it's on my TBR pile (which is quite ridiculous at the moment). She's such a good writer! Right now I'm reading "A Closed Common Orbit" (Becky Chambers) and "The Conjuring of America" (nonfic) by Lindsey Stewart. Both are really good

Season 3 & 4 were my favorite because they were trying to build up something. There was something interesting (and a missed opportunity to comment on incarceration) about building a community in a prison. The governor was an interesting adversary. But the whole Negan arc was such a slog

Yes! Johnson was obviously absolutely in love with Star Wars. He wanted it to grow, even if it meant letting go of the old. It's not a subtle movie. Still went over so many people's heads. His Knives Out movies are wonderful

Life During Wartime holds up in every crisis. Also Animals is such an underrated track! Jonathan Lethem's 33 1/3 monography on "Fear" is pretty good.

I'm hopeful that the new film will be the start of something fresh. I think Johnson's deconstructionist take (in Last Jedi) was the way to go back in the day, but it pissed off too many of the chuds.
