that’s craft (from Terry Gross’s All I Did Was Ask — bookshop.org/p/books/all-... )
Excerpt from All I Did Was Ask by Terry Gross.

TG: Renfield is Dracula's assistant. He's in an insane asylum and he eats insects.
CAGE: Right. And it was a slow progression for my character, Peter Loew. First he's eating pistachios, then he's eating a cockroach, then he finally eats the dove.
Ultimately he bites a girl's neck, kills her, and drinks her blood. So it was this progressive building from pistachio to girl.
The cockroach was one of the steps in the disintegration of Peter Loew.
So I said, "I want to try eating a cock-roach." Everybody was like, "You've got to be crazy!" And I said, "Yeah, I-I know what you mean. I really don't like cockroaches myself." They wrangled up three New York cockroaches out of somebody's basement, and the day arrived where I had to do it. I saw the bug when I walked on the set. The legs were kicking. The antennas were going. It looked huge. I almost said, "Guys, I can't do it." I figured that it would be a cop-out, because I'd set

it up and made them wrangle for cockroaches for weeks.
I put the cockroach close to me. Every muscle in my body was saying, "Don't do it." The wings were going. And then I— I did it. And—I couldn't sleep for about three days. I couldn't eat. But well, I did it.
And there it is.
TG: Did you call a doctor first and ask if chewing a cockroach could kill you?
CAGE: Yeah. They said it would be okay.
What I did was I rinsed my mouth out with hundred-proof vodka and sterilized my mouth before I did it. And then when I spit the cockroach out, I sterilized my mouth again.
TG: What did it taste like?
CAGE: Oh, you know, I couldn't remem-ber. All I know is it was soft. It was not crunchy. It was soft. And it was—it was just a nightmare.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel is titled “things that are spooky”. We see a book of hexes, a skull, candles, a pentagram in blood, and vampire teeth. Pointing off panel we see a speech bubble that says “I love it”.
The second panel is titled “things that are cute”. We see a strawberry cake, a boba drink, a bunny plushie, and a cute notebook and pen. Again, we see a speech bubble pointing off panel that says “I love it”.
The third panel is titled “things that are spooky AND cute”. We see a row of cute decorative ghosts.
The fourth panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, completely freaking out at this combination.

Nic Cage:
He continued: “How do you survive AI? Amazon is a very AI friendly company to the tune of 50 billion dollars invested to OpenAI. I am not an AI friendly actor. I didn’t sign the waiver to let them use AI on Spider-Noir. It’s kind of like I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again. But that’s OK. So I got to get with these young directors who are Gen Z and they’re going at it their own way, whether it’s through the YouTube culture or whatever it is. They’re doing it from scratch and by hand. I want to get with that.”

Jesus Christ: after a recent ruling by the Eighth Circuit that allowed Act 372 to take effect, an Arkansas county has banned all children from checking out any books in the adult section, bringing home any DVDs, or using the self-checkout kiosk in its public libraries.
More recently in Craighead County — symbolically, at least, Ground Zero for the state’s attack on libraries, thanks to Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Jonesboro) — the library announced several changes to circulation as it relates to minors. In a Facebook post, the library listed a number of changes to library policies, including:

Minors are prohibited from using the self-checkout kiosks;
Children under 13 years old may only check out materials from the designated children’s collection, while minors age 13-17 can only check out from the children or teen sections;
Minors may not check out DVDs at all; and
Minors are prohibited from entering or purchasing anything from the Friends of the Library Bookstore.

I had a thread about @sanders.senate.gov & Max Tegmark before seeing this one. Yudkowsky is an even more overt eugenicist, you don't have to do any digging to see that. He also has ZERO expertise in "AI" except for being a self described "genius" cult leader who wrote a Harry Potter fanfic.

Will AI become smarter than humans?

If so, is humanity in danger?

I went to Silicon Valley to ask some of the leading AI experts that question.

Here's what they had to say.
