I really hope we get some official answers from the devs to Silent Hill Townfall's story because a lot of these current "explained" videos are absolutely confusing dogshit or recap videos disguised as theorizing. My only current needling issue is, "Did Simon give that speech already or not?"

Now that it's uh, 2 dollars, I finally got around to playing Mighty Number 9. (Not finished but I know what happens.) The graphics and level design are dogshit, the music is mid and the voice acting is lame, but I think the two boss fights I did were well done.

annual repost of Trashed Bathrooms

when I was in college, a part of our university's graduation requirements had a community service component that they called service learning.

one of my service learning classes involved work at a local homerless community center, helping people write resumes and cleaning bathrooms.

our instructor told us to expect to see the bathrooms trashed a lot - like you will clean the bathroom and immediately someone will wreck it.

and it's not because they disrespect your work or don't value having access to clean bathrooms or whatever, but because of control.

when you feel like you have no control over your life or your environment, your brain is going to want to assert control however it can.

which results in thrashed bathrooms. it's control exercised over one small part of your environment that you still have the power to affect.

i see kids on tumblr using the language of social justice as cudgels on people who actually do care about and listen to them.

or holding the creators within their own communities to an impossibly high standard that they never apply to mainstream media properties.

i just see thrashed bathrooms. 'These are the people my voice actually reach,' they rationalize, 'so these are the people I'll hurt'.

but the guiding principles of social justice are aimed at correcting and dismantling systems. stop using them to dismantle people.

I really warmed up to Silksong after being a long time Hollow Knight hater. I still haven't done the Prison event because until today, I never got caught by the jailers. When I did just get caught, I was infected with the parasite, which ended up murdering the jailer after the screen went black.

Currently watching the 2017 version of Kino's Journey to figure out why it has such terribly jank vibes. The 2003 version enthralled me. Sure the original had some jank episodes and tried a little too hard to be "artsy" at times, but this 2017 version just feels stale and off all the time.

Inconsequential Pet Peeve that exclusively bothers me and me alone: When people make the Simpsons reference to "Lousy Smarch Weather" in March. The joke was that the school was meeting about misprinted calendars ("...of the thirteenth day, of the thirteenth month.") "Smarch" is January, damn it!

Currently up in Maine (you know why) and we just finished up an escape room. My "proudest moment" was triumphantly saying "Taco Koho!" by arranging a pair of letters, and started looking around the room for an ad or souvenir from"Taco Koho". I then realized it was supposed to spell "Coat Hook".
