We need to think bigger, and expand it to 39 Justices, which would force functional changes that exist in most other high courts world wide

Yes, and there are already likeness laws that can protect people from deepfakes if the laws are updated to include them, same with criminal laws for harmful deepfakes

And existing likeness laws and criminal laws can likely handle deepfakes, if they are updated to include them

Except the aren't making a new law, they are just extending existing copyright laws, which has all sorts of caps on payouts, often tied to actual loss or potential actual loss

Except that is not how copyright and copyright law works, and following someone around and filming them already can violate criminal laws is several ways, not just a civil violation

This sounds good, until the corrupt politician sues the news organization for using their likeness in a story, you get locked out of your social media account because someone in the background of your photos makes a copyright claim, or an filmmaker gets sued over a truthful documentary

77 million Americans voted for national suicide in 2024. We're seeing it unfold right now: The economy vandalized, the military weakened, politicians bribed, tech run wild, immigrants terrorized, and government goon squads committing murder. Vote against all Republicans. It could be our last chance.

I'd argue that this isn't really cognitive offloading, this is more like hiring a lawyer if you get arrested because the legal system is complicated. I've been struggling with insurance issues to the point that I just lie and say I don't have insurance and pay out of pocket, bc it is just easier

~75+ Dem House for FDR to pass the New Deal, Social Security, & flip SCOTUS liberal for ~35 years. LBJ had nearly the same to pass CRA64, Medicare/caid, VRA, HEA, I&NA65, CRA68, & other Great Society Programs. Dems haven't had that much power since 1968, and only 3 years of majority since then 2/2

I've spent a lot of time inside classrooms of very poor schools, including working with well-resourced parents like @nhannahjones.bsky.social who opted for those schools out of social obligation. Her experience - and agony - is common and wrenching. She's just one of (very few) willing to be honest.
