Very nice! I painted a very similar one as part of a batch of Com Guards back in July. I just wish I could get hold of a Battle Level II box…

A lovely idea. Made me think of having some followers of the Monkey King or Tsien-Tsin as some sort of “bad” Cathay army.

Bad puns are part of Warhammer‘s core identity in my eyes. As is the mix of cruelty and silliness.

Then GW paints with their satin finish would certainly work well. Vallejo as well (with some exceptions), Army Painter too I’d imagine (though I dislike their often very thick consistency).

One of the most important criteria is if your painting style involves using washes. If so, you might avoid the super matt ranges, because a matt finish messes with washes. But otherwise, there are no truly bad ranges out there as far as I’m aware.

One of my all-time favorite rules, from Pea Ridge (1980). The designer's great-great-grandfather fought in the battle, and if his unit takes damage you roll a die to see if he survives. If he dies, the designer is never born, and the game doesn't exist, and so automatically ends in a draw.

Too much going on to find time for modelling at CJHM HQ recently but I did finish this a few weeks back. Not my usual thing but model club was invited to display at local Maritime Festival so it was incentive to get on with #Airfix Shannon Class Lifeboat in 1/72. Crew are 3d printed from web.
