Not necessarily, but you do need access to one. Some people may have extra boards to loan out.

If any local (PEI) women who paddleboard (and have access to one) wish to take part in an epic event next weekend, DM me. More details to come but for now think: paddleboarding, celebrating the Halloween season, and praising the matriarchy.

Gorgeous day to go for a bike ride. I’m so grateful we bought e-bikes last year and took advantage of the rebate program. Having an e-bike means I can ride and not exasperate my chronic pain.
Photo shows 2 evokes standing next to each other. The one of the left is red and is sideways facing; the one on the right is Tiffany blue and is facing forward. In the background is a PEI beach scape water view.

Even tho my evening was awful, it’s still worth it for me to up any protection against covid. That pain lasted 12 hrs, not the 2 weeks I dealt with when I had the virus. PSA that covid affects people differently. To some, it doesn’t feel like “just a cold.” For me, it was agony.

I ended up having a bad (really bad) pain flare yesterday. Took me a bit to realize it was from the vaccine. When I had Covid, my pain symptom was extreme pain. Vaccines expose you to a small amount of the virus so it tracks that I would have pain. It was 9/10 for me, someone used to chronic pain.

Ah, gotcha. Given how many people opt not to get vaccinated, it's too bad they can't just roll it out for everyone. Fingers crossed you stay safe and well!

Have you checked Sobeys/Loblaws? Public health here is offering them starting November, but the pharmacies have them much earlier. Fingers crossed you can find one offering to the general population soon.

Most pharmacies across PEI are able to offer both flu and covid vaccines now. I got mine today, via the Superstore (walk-in, no appt needed), which is significantly better than the Nov 5 date public health was offering...

Yes there are so many horror stories of people waiting too long at the ER. In emergency situations, we can still access good care and today I am so damn grateful for that.

A family member had a medical emergency today and went to the qeh via ambulance. While our healthcare system is certainly broken, we received excellent care from everyone involved: paramedics, nurses, and the er doc we saw. They’ll be ok and we are all home now, after being there less than 5 hrs.

I’m tired of complaining about being tired. Been awake for 2 hours now, and I have a full day tomorrow of things that cannot be rescheduled. Excellent.

Chronic pain adventures: Trying yet another new pillow arrangement to see if it helps my sleep. Yes, it’s a pregnancy pillow. No, I’m def not pregnant. Yes, I’m tired.

Cheers! I’ll see if the library has a copy. It’s pretty humbling to need to learn how to do things your body should just do automatically...

There’s a direct relationship between breath and pain tho so I am eager to try to learn this skill. (Hypermobile people often shallow breathe and we hold our breath a lot, both actions that cause our ribs to brace, leading to pain in ribs, back, and neck. Good times.)

Today’s physio session involved my physiotherapist teaching me how to breathe. Apparently I need supervision to breathe properly. While I’m grateful always for her guidance, sometimes living with EDS makes you feel like you can’t “human” correctly. It’s humbling.

I missed summer deck season, so I’m embracing fall deck season.
Photo of a section of my deck. In the middle is a fire pit table. Around the table are 3 chairs, one wooden chair and 2 patio-style ones. On the 4th side of the table is a patio-style love seat. I have flowers all over the deck to add pops of colour.

I encourage all parents to opt out. Kids need to learn critical thinking skills before they learn AI. Other countries are banning AI in schools for this reason. So, aside from the environmental harm AI causes, do a solid for your child’s brain and allow them to develop these essential skills first.

PEI parents of kids in the K-12 school system: Just an FYI that you can opt out of your kid’s use of AI via the IT forms we have to sign every year. That form requires 2 signatures—one for AI (that you can opt out of) and one for general tech. So you can allow your kid to use computers, but no AI.

My husband and I are huge fans of yours, and we've been cheering you on (from PEI) since your Jeopardy debut. You represented Canada so well; you should be proud.

Unsure of your schedule, but the tides at Canoe Cove tend to be faster than other places, perhaps giving some more flexibility with timings?

Acupuncture this morning focused on calming down my poor broken, out of control. nervous system. I’m at the point where I jump when someone sneezes.

Also, the records are super important in my case, too, because pain conditions aren’t often believed/treated with respect. Right now, I’m at the mercy of ONE doctor’s notes. That…can be subjective. But THREE doctors shows a pattern…I cannot access the records of two of these three doctors.
030
Christine Gordon Manley | Editor @cgmanley.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Exactly! NOBODY seems to know. My latest lead? A random doctor at the Friendly Pharmacy clinic might have them. I’ll try, but not holding my breath b/c why would my records go there? I’ve never been a patient at the Friendly Pharmacy or of this other doctor and is it all just a huge scavenger hunt?

I’ve applied already (Resource Abilities are amazing with this, for free, in case you didn’t know), but I fully expect a denial. They take forever to decide, so I’m working on trying to get my info ready re: appeal. I figure I’ll need it; I didn’t think it would be this hard to track down tho!

Christine Gordon Manley | Editor @cgmanley.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
I’m in similar situation, despite the timeframe, re: DTC info. I’m trying for chronic pain, and since there is no chronic pain category, I need to show longevity (to rule out acute pain stuff); right now, I only have 2020 onwards, but I’ve lived in pain since 1991.

Yeah, it’s frustrating, and since nobody knows, I’m just getting met with apathy or irritation. I replied to one person and cc’d all (since they did), acknowledging their suggestion but explaining I’d already tried that…another staff curtly replied that staff #1 already answered my question.

Right? Passing me from one office to another and getting irritated with the person who is simply trying to track down personal (and private, I might add) info that could have a huge impact on her life is … not an effective strategy.

I’ve had 5 GPs in my life (1 in NL, 1 in ON, 3 here). I’m pretty confident the only records my current GP has are his. So a huge chunk of my medical history is just…not available? I find this so bizarre.

I currently have one department referring me to another department, who only tells me to contact the first department. Both are getting irritated with me…and I am no closer to answers.
