Happy Pride! Today was "Open and Affirming Sunday" at the church I sometimes go to. The pastor talked about a number of things in her sermon (delivered whilst wearing a sequined rainbow dress), but my fav was that she gave a strong defense of gender affirming care for youth. Love our allies!

Hey @julieroys.bsky.social, do you not know just how many churches (including some on which you have reported) claim that big donations are miracles and mean God's favor? Are you agreeing with them that donations are a valid way of confirming God's approval?

"A donor challenged me several months ago, saying The Roys Report does a phenomenal job of reporting the truth but needs to do more to restore the church. I agreed with him but noted our limited resources.

Then, we raised more in December 2024 than we’ve ever raised in a single month! I believe that was God’s way of telling us to move forward with our plans, trusting Him to provide. Expect to see even more investigations, podcasts, and videos in the upcoming year! "

There’s only one problem: Congress tried that before, and the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional. Presidents retain the veto power, of course, but it’s all or nothing — they can’t pick and choose which parts of the legislation they want to sign.

The Supreme Court declared the line-item veto unconstitutional almost 20 years ago. The challenge came during the Clinton administration, after the Congress passed the short-lived Line Item Veto Act of 1996, which gave the president the power to scratch certain items from spending and tax bills.
