I remember working so hard on my college applications and then waiting anxiously for months to learn if I was accepted. My son has been flooded with pre-acceptance letters from schools begging him to apply. Have times changed or is he just that much smarter than his mom?!

I don’t believe this issue is as black-and-white as Haidt describes. Yes, phones can be a distraction. But they also help students feel a tiny bit safer, less trapped, in an environment where leadership often fails to keep them safe.
