Take note, @nytimes.com. Words matter. Do not grant the oppressor unjustified power. “Defies” implies that 47 is correct, all powerful. “Opposes”, “Fights”, “Contests”, “Disputes” are better choices. They allow that 47 is overreaching & Harvard is responding on legal grounds.
