It's #FossilFriday, let's dive into some amazing fossil lobsters from France! A recent article from some colleagues at the @cr2p.bsky.social studied beautifully preserved lobsters from La-Voulte-sur-Rhône (162 Mya). X-ray synchrotron tomography revealed internal soft organs and even allowed sexing!

Ovulate cone of Schizolepidopsis gerriennei (holotype, IRSNB_b_9671). a whole fossil in its sandy matrix, b imprint of scales in the center of the ovulate cone, c imprint of scales at the base of the ovulate cone with black arrow pointing at the imprint of a bilobed scale, dcomplete preserved apex of the ovulate cone. Scale bar: a 50 mm,  b ̶ d 10 mm.
