Many thanks to 1stDibs, for understanding my tastes so specifically as to recommend I purchase this beautiful painting.
A painting of a somewhat fey shirtless boxer, standing in front of a rural scene, clenching his fists in a way that looks more petulant than threatening.

It's so easy to criticize, rather than make helpful suggestions. Shame on you all. Look, if every true American patriot took just a few gulps of reflecting pool water, we could easily refill the whole thing with what I'm tentatively calling Freedom Piss™ 🦅

The great thing about the internet is you think "oh, I should wash the car today" and then go online to get some recommendations and then fall down several rabbit holes, and an hour later you have no greater insight but all the car-washing time is used up by fruitless research and it's lunchtime.

Just heard the news and I'm disgusted. It's truly disgusting. Can't believe it has come to this. Wow. Generally outrageous.

It's fascinating seeing the continuing reaction to people saying "No, we won't vote for Gavin Newsom, he's a terrible pick*" being "Yes, but Gavin Newsom, though, right? 😉" from certain (vocal) quarters. *which is, to be clear, a sentiment I agree with

They closed the airspace above El Paso because the Big Goose was back, but they knew you'd panic if they told you. The public isn't ready to know about the Big Goose.

When you're next furious that MN kids are going hungry, well, there's a fund for that; & when you're livid that brave observers may struggle with rent, there's one for that; & when you're heartbroken about pets being left behind when their owners are kidnapped, well, there's a fund for that, too.

You don't need to be an expert when things are this broken. I've always lived under the assumption that I'm wrong. That there is some piece of information I'm missing that won't just make me look stu...

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind. It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty. Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face. Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

I have a single 2026 resolution and that's to be (a little) more social. Turns out, when you do most of your socializing on work trips and then largely stop traveling, you get pretty insular! Who knew! Anyway, brain kinda fizzled; if I left you on unread in 2025, it was me not you.

This is not a subtweet but if I come to your house at the holidays and ask if you have a little bit of feta I might have, and you say no but then later I find you in the back pantry gnawing on a big chunk of feta, I'm going to be pretty upset. This is not a subtweet.

Psst. If you woke up feeling positive about yesterday's election results, then remembered things are still terrible and precarious and scary for a whole lot of people right now, donating to a local food bank is a good way to push back on that wave of dismay.

Now we get to see who ignores the "be a genuine, authentic person with tangible beliefs" and "don't throw trans people under the bus" lessons, here, and jumps instead to "make fun videos" because that's easier than legacy Dems changing tired old habits.

Already, six hundred political journalists are in their cars, fanning out to mom & pop diners across the country, to ask people there how terrified they are - on a scale of 1 to 10 - that New York City has a new mayor.

It's almost reassuring, watching 'Dem Strategists' cling desperately to "We dressed old Chuck-E-Cheese robots in blue ties, and loaded them with 3.5-inch floppy discs of 'we must move to the center' talking points." The same sort of reassurance as feeling your guts gurgle after taking a laxative.

In an ideal world I'd have the clever words to encourage the strong, capable, intelligent, talented, and ever-promising people around me to not give up hope, but I don't, so I'll just have to hope that they feel the love and support radiating out of me instead.

Shameful that this is so surprising - if not outright shocking - to hear a politician who doesn't simply make vague and easily-deniable comments about trans people needing support, but calls for that support in no uncertain terms.

There is vanishingly little I can do personally to stop the NYTimes from loving fascists and hating trans people, but they're on my "no clicks" list along with Substack links, and I respectfully suggest that, if you pay for their Wordle games app, you consider cancelling that.
