Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Many thanks to 1stDibs, for understanding my tastes so specifically as to recommend I purchase this beautiful painting. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 13/07/2026I shall see what I can do! I am fairly camera-shy these days 😂 120
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 13/07/2026I'm pretty sure I could hear Lalita laughing all the way down the street 😂 230
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 13/07/2026If your ears were burning yesterday, it's probably because I was singing your praises 😂 130
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 13/07/2026And Mercedes! Honestly, I'm astonished they haven't already done it. 020
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Who will be the first to use spy photography to photoshop a realistic image of the actual driver inside the picture of the car? 140
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 11/07/2026We need an equivalent app to Merlin, to identify rare and weird cars by sound alone. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 11/07/2026I saw one of those yesterday, just after I spotted a PT Cruiser convertible, and shortly after an early-2000s Thunderbird. I felt like I should get some sort of badge for such a trio. 130
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 10/07/2026The last time I had it, it was kinda oddly thick and not-entirely-pleasantly-unctuous. I expected it to be bright and fresh, but it was... claggy. Which is to say, you may not be missing out. 000
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 25/06/2026I'm so sorry, Stacey. I never met him in person, but his presence in the industry was a huge one. 100
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 24/06/2026There's a "passenger-side crank" joke here somewhere, but I'm too busy to workshop it. Let's just agree to laugh, okay? 130
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 24/06/2026It's okay, I expect I'll get it free as part of my T-Mobile subscription. Assuming I'm okay adding another (shipping) line, that is. 040
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Right! I don't know why nobody from the government has called me about my idea, yet. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 19/06/2026It's so easy to criticize, rather than make helpful suggestions. Shame on you all. Look, if every true American patriot took just a few gulps of reflecting pool water, we could easily refill the whole thing with what I'm tentatively calling Freedom Piss™ 🦅 170
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Lalita we have all been falling behind, this is shameful 130
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 18/06/2026John's right, someone's been feeding you incorrect information. If anything you probably need two more. 160
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 07/06/2026Y'know, for some reason I had it in my head that you were a convertible person! (I agree with you, though) 120
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 06/06/2026This is a lot of stress for a Saturday morning, I have to say. I'm going to guess... you're team Cappuccino 👀 120
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 05/06/2026I wish the wheels weren't black, but... that actually looks pretty good, with that grille in that paint color 👀 150
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 01/06/2026I really, really wish I hadn't seen that blue one 👀 140
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 25/05/2026I figure there's a good chance you've already read Blindsight by Peter Watts, but just in case you haven't... 090
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 15/05/2026If it helps, I think you should actually definitely do it. 020
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Eternally frustrated that I wasn't a car writer when those things were floating about 230
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 30/04/2026I suspect people want "the summer they remember as a kid, when everything felt easier" 020
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026Definitely. I wish we were all more in the habit of listening to science! Though if the science is saying "we will see impacts on our way of life in 10 years, and widespread starvation in 20 years" I think there are inherent mental blocks a lot of people have, just so they can operate day-to-day. 020
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026I think you're correct, there, but I think there's also an element of "I cannot handle that degree of awareness" among those who we'd consider educated and like-minded. 120
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026Indeed. Though I think there's a difference between "believe in it" and "believe the situation is as dire as it actually is." As in, I speak to plenty of people who believe in climate change but who aren't necessarily ready to acknowledge things will change dramatically in the next decade or so. 120
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026And, like, I *get* it. Because acknowledging it means facing the reality that very rich people need to change, and very quickly, if we have a hope of improving things. Which we know they won't. So you end up in the "my kids will likely die horribly in this world" headspace. Self-deception is easier. 0433
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026I live in the Midwest now, and the Venn diagram of "people currently terrified by the uptick in tornadoes and other extreme weather" and "people who've said how nice it is to have milder winters and earlier spring" is very nearly a circle. Attempts to dig into either are met with clear resistance. 1634
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 29/04/2026I suspect this is a significant factor in people refusing to acknowledge things like climate change. Accepting it's real, and things are really precarious, means facing our own individual impotence. And that's uncomfortable for the human brain, so we just say "a warmer summer will be nice, though." 3654
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 27/04/2026You can expend a lot of energy - and thus presumably be "exercising" - by simply laying on the floor and flailing. 181
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 24/04/2026Put a large sheet of tempered glass on top, and use them as inconveniently-tall coffee tables. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Again, biased, but I am so impressed by what he (and Nat, his partner) have achieved there. Supporting fair-priced coffee growers and roasters from around Europe; paying staff fair wages; being great stewards of a special building. And the coffee is fantastic! 020
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 22/04/2026Where I live, tbh the coffee I make at home is as good as I'll get in most of the local places. Outside of that, I'm exceptionally biased (as it's my brother's shop 😂) but COFFI in Liverpool www.instagram.com/coffiliverpool 130
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 12/04/2026And that would leave you about eight months to get your affairs in order before it arrived. 030
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 09/04/2026Yep. There are various different pieces of legislation in various different stages about trying to better regulate it, but y'know how that goes. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 09/04/2026If you found a well-trafficked spot (like a pretty town on a holiday w/e) it could be a lucrative thing, I'm told. But the curing later on was a nightmare: those getting paid to collect were a lot less stringent about making sure signers were eligible/lived in the right area/etc. 010
Chris Davies @cdavies.bsky.social · 09/04/2026It's the gatherers getting paid. Was a big thing a couple of years ago in MI, when we were trying to get abortion and voting rights onto the ballot. You'd have people coming in from neighboring states, with 10+ different petitions on them (sometimes competing sides) trying to chase signatures. 220
