What a great societal moment to have an outbreak of nihilist shitlord school shootings. We are definitely well equipped to handle this issue!

Media challenge: try writing headlines without using the word "antisemitism". Stop using Trump's framing for his authoritarian actions. "Trump administration now monitoring immigrant social media" would be shorter and more accurate, since no-one really believes this is about anti-semitism.

Once again, this does absolutely nothing to help Jews. Genuinely makes things worse.

I am Jewish. I have spent literally my entire life on university campuses. I was the child of two Jewish professors. Since kindergarten I have spent exactly one year as neither a student nor a professor. I have, on occasion, experienced antisemitism. But never on a university campus.

I wrote about this a few years ago. As someone who joined a cult in my 20s, I strongly believe a big draw is how utterly banal much of life is in many democracies. Far right groups provide purpose, community, and identity. This is why solving extremism goes deeper than just fighting against it.

Proclaiming the president to be the physical embodiment of the “will of the people”? Doing a great job of beating the Hiterlite accusations Mr. Musk!

Grim state of affairs that Nick Fu*ntes is the only figure on The Right who is even remotely critical of the current regime.

The Right loves using the specter of antisemitism to harm others while blatantly engaging in it themselves.

Beyond being an obvious violation of the First Amendment and a serious threat to international students/faculty, this order is awful for Jews. Continues the obfuscation and diminishment of antisemitism while fostering distrust and antipathy towards us.

I was just writing about this. Not confident that such a dynamic will help improve the efficiency of an already inept kleptocracy.

We failed to stop fascism's rise. Now it's dancing about on the White House lawn. I don't know how to fix all this but I do know that the shit we've been doing won't get us out of this one. shatterzone.substack.com/p/we-failed-...

the morning after OSU's national championship, I have one big question: why did everybody else let OSU take over a billion-dollar sport for just $20 million? rodgersherman.substack.com/p/ohio-state...

Ohio State's $20 million bargain
Everybody seems to think it's ridiculous that Ohio State spent $20 million on their roster. So do I. There's no way a team this good should cost that little.

Such a phenomenon can’t be effectively addressed until people understand this affective appeal and the strong emotions underlying the ensuing loyalty. Nothing he does will ever matter to them because he gave them purpose and community.

It is emotional bliss, reveling in nostalgia with those who share their same fears and insecurities. Everyone else is to blame for their lack of fulfillment and existential sadness. Trump gave this to them, and will be forever thankful to him.

This unified ideological direction led by Trump provides MAGA with the intoxication of genuine community that they may have never felt. They are finally a part of something bigger than themselves.

Trump is the physical avatar of these fears. He provides MAGA with an out to this existential despair—an enemy that must be combatted. MAGA is not bad for refusing to accept change; those who herald such change are the true evil.

As the supremacy of the individual espoused by our liberal democratic order slowly erodes social capital, this nihilistic rage grows. MAGA is angry and confused, and doesn’t have the emotional capabilities to understand why.

MAGA is fueled by fear of change. Anger that the world isn’t the same as it used to be, that they (mainly white men) are not as culturally or politically dominant as they once were.
