Please help us keep Carroll County schools safe from ICE. All children deserve to feel safe at school! For more info: www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...
Based on community feedback at the last BOE meeting, the board has updated its immigration enforcement policy. They only integrated one of CCIRC’s suggested changes (designating school buildings as private spaces), and the policy STILL does not explicitly state non-consent to immigration enforcement at schools. Rather the policy designates the sheriff’s office as the decider of whether or not ICE enters a school. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is actively collaborating with ICE and cannot be trusted in this capacity. We have seen this week that DHS is willing to condone its ICE officers murdering civilians. We demand a policy that unequivocally states that ICE does not belong in schools.

CCIRC believes that the proposed policy continues to show a lack of care for immigrants and immigrant families in our school communities. We ask community members to join us in actions to show your support for school safety and community care. More details are available at the FB link in the post's text

CALL TO ACTION If you believe transparency in local government matters, join us to ask for investigation into Dewee's and the Sheriff's Office regarding alleged misconduct. See link for more information on writing a letter or attend a meeting listed in the image: www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1...
CALL TO ACTION: The Carroll County Times recently published details from Heather DeWees' divorce complaint alleging that Sheriff DeWees had affairs with “local attorneys and attorneys employed at the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office, Maryland State Troopers and staff, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies and staff, and other candidates for elected office in Carroll County." If you believe transparency in local government matters, please join us in taking the following steps to demand that Sheriff DeWees' alleged unethical behavior is investigated rather than swept under the rug.

Though more than 70% of people in ICE detention have no criminal convictions, the administration prefers the phrase 'criminal illegal aliens' for its propaganda. Looks like Republicans in Congress got the memo.
Bar chart titled “Congressional E-Newsletters Containing ‘Criminal Illegal Alien’ (August 2015 – August 2025).” The x-axis shows time intervals from August 2015 to August 2025, and the y-axis shows counts from 0 to 100. Bars are color-coded by party: blue for Democrats and red for Republicans. The chart shows almost no Democratic usage (one small blue bar in early 2019) and consistent but relatively low Republican usage from 2015 through early 2024, usually under 15 mentions per period. Beginning in 2024, mentions rise sharply, peaking in mid-2025 with over 90 Republican e-newsletters using the phrase, followed by about 73 in the most recent period. Data source: DCINBOX.com.

This is extremely alarming: DHS announced yesterday that it will begin reimbursing state and local law enforcement agencies for participation in the 287(g) program, which allows them to assist with federal immigration enforcement. 🧵
Screenshot from DHS press release: Starting October 1, 2025, participating law enforcement will have these reimbursement opportunities:

ICE will fully reimburse participating agencies for the annual salary and benefits of each eligible trained 287(g) officer, including overtime coverage up to 25% of the officer’s annual salary.
Law enforcement agencies will be eligible for quarterly monetary performance awards based on the successful location of illegal aliens provided by ICE and overall assistance to further ICE’s mission to Defend the Homeland:
90% - 100% - $1,000 per eligible task force officer
80% - 89% - $750 per eligible task force officer
70% - 79% - $500 per eligible task force officer
