Do emotions drive political engagement?
 A busy pizzeria takes many orders and makes many pizzas, but its busyness doesn’t *cause* these, except via feedback effects. Likewise, I argue here, emotions correlate with new evaluations and motivations, but don’t *cause* them, except via feedback effects.

People often complain that philosophy doesn't generate knowledge like the sciences. Sometimes you even here this from philosophers! They point to the interminable debates in philosophy (like utilitarianism vs deontology) as evidence for this claim. This is wrong, however.
