🎮 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲? You sit down thinking you'll play for an hour - suddenly it's 3 AM. For me, Mass Effect 2. The first time I played it, I got so absorbed that I played for 8-10 hours straight without even realizing how much time had passed. What's yours?

Crazy that tomorrow is the 200th episode of Midlife SideQuest. So super grateful to everyone who has listened to this old tired nerd blab into a microphone over the past 13 years.

🎮 I'm probably not buying Wolverine anytime soon. The QTEs, handholding and difficulty don't look like the Insomniac experience I expected. But I'm not writing them off. They've earned enough goodwill from me to wait for patches and a sale. Disappointed? Absolutely. Done? Not even close.

After wrapping up Platinum #76 with Star Wars Outlaws I think my next adventure is gonna finally be Control. Timely with reviews for the sequel hitting today, & it's a game I've always wanted to try but just never found the time. It was given away on PS+ awhile ago, so the time just feels right.

Maine is in absolute outrage! Protesters took over Senator Susan Collins’ office chanting "VOTE HER OUT" after an ICE thug brutally executed a 26-year-old Colombian man. We demand immediate accountability for this state-sponsored murder! Enough is enough!

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

There it is... 3,200 layoffs through FY27, but no studio closures. BSKY isn't the place for nuance, but I will say this; while 3,200 men and women losing their jobs is objectively sad and sucks, this could have been worse. Entire studios aren't closing down, and that's something to be thankful for.

🎮Berto @cberto85.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

This won't do a damn thing, but in an attempt at solidarity for those gamers who still want physical games - I've wiped out my wish-list from PlayStation. I don't know, maybe if a million people do the same they'll panic?

🎮Berto @cberto85.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

🎮Berto @cberto85.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

There you have it. Sony is the first to publicly announce the end of support for physical games - starting in 2028. PS6 will not have a disc drive SKU at all, and will likely re-use the same "external" disc drive used on the PS5 or they're going to manufacture a new version that connects via USB-C.

Four anime-style characters - well, two copies of the same two characters, it looks like - smile at the camera. One of the characters is pale skinned and has red eyes and white hair; the other is darker skinned and has orangey eyes and black hair. They seem to be be very close and happy.

Gaming isn't going away, but the current console generation NEEDS to be the longest in history. As storage and memory prices skyrocket, gamers will pay the premium if companies launch new consoles in 2-3 years. It's NEVER been more expensive for late adopters; hundreds of dollars more now is ABSURD.
