I grew up rooting for—and wanting to go to—the University of Texas. Instead, I went to the University of Tennessee. And I've been a proud Vol ever since. Today, my two UTs face off for the first time in my life. Not a bad way to spend the last day of my 40s. GO VOLS!!!

My favorite game on my first console. Didn’t know it had a commercial! The ad doesn’t convey the actual sense of fear the game had—incredible sound design given its system restraints. You couldn’t see what was ahead of you till you got there. Limited ammo. Survival horror, really.

I played Castlevania on the Sharp X68000 and “glorious” really undersells it. I didn’t know music from early ‘90s gaming could sound so good. I have no idea what its “bit” equivalent would be, but the graphics looked better than SNES to me. Wish I had had more time with it. So good.

I’m used to seeing games I worked on at retro shows like @liretro.bsky.social — but the labor of love from the first five years of my career is a new one. That’s a stack of about 20 OPM (all issues I worked on), going from $10 to $30 each (depending if disc is included).

Some #gamedev #indiegame context for you, I only really make 3-4$ per-sale of this after the platform and taxes take their cut. If I had a publisher the profit is a lot lower. All of which go into game updates, marketing, or development of the next project, and sometimes I get to pay my rent.
