I'll throw in my suggestion to complete the COPE slate and vote Chloe Leslie, who has frontline worker experience in the DTES with a focus on food justice!

Very much so, they really don't want Pete Fry to win and reward him and don't want to vote for him.

Stephanie showed true leadership with her statement this morning at City Hall. She named the system we're up against, was honest about the left's capacity at this time, and gave us a road map to continue the fight. Stephanie Allen for Mayor 2030.

Really sad to see Stephanie drop out. She was the best candidate and would have been an amazing Mayor. I'm glad to see progressives finally uniting and I hope there is more news so we can narrow it down to one candidate, probably Fry. Let's Evict Ken Sim on October 17!

Imagine if there was a fraction of this opposition to the President being there, the guy who bragged the day of the attacks that now he has the tallest tower in Manhattan

It's been several years and I can't DM images. This is such a ridiculous oversight. Every other website lets you do this.

Don't quote me on this in like 10 years but I think one of the defining issues of the 2020s is "a better world is actually very easy to achieve, the powers that be are just not interested in achieving it."

I understand that's your point of view, I can understand and respect it. Orr's view is that the housing will not be particularly helpful without these amendments/protections and it's a hard line. You're welcome to disagree!

Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Why must the renter protections be later (and thus not guaranteed/a hypothetical) rather than now and cemented? If it's an essential part of his vote (and fair enough if you don't think it should be) why would he ever vote for something that doesn't include it?

Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Makes you think!

Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Why is it bad to build in more areas of the city rather than concentrating in certain areas?
080
Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
It's not really a cop out, either you support the renter protections and want a better version of the plan or you don't. It's not disingenuous, he's being honest, especially when this is a motion that was already going to lose.
140
Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Why should he vote yes on a proposal he doesn't support that doesn't include the protections?
020
Cazzy @cazzy.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
I can understand people being frustrated with Orrs ultimate no vote/this plan not going through. I'm pretty alienated by people who are dismissive of the affordability factor and existing residents. There's nuance and balances, but still.

I want to give benefit of the doubt, but I don't know why. There's a reason these things don't happen more often, fortunately. I care about people being held accountable and prevention, it's pretty icky to pay a settlement by your record company and try to forget about it

Yeah like, unsafe practices are not exclusive to hip-hop and most professionals can get intense while maintaining safety, but there are def shows where artists encourage fans to ignore security and safety measures. Someone performing (and organizing!) at a fest that size should know better

Think it's unclear even to detectives how much knowledge and neglect he personally did, but of course his team is gonna pass the buck and make him look as good as possible. Not nearly enough people were held accountable, whether it's him or his management and the venue organizers etc

Side note: I saw Travis in 2015 open for The Neighborhood before anyone knew who he was and it was a total mishmash/not the vibe. Outdoor GA venue and at one point he came and shook the barrier but NOBODY was at the fence so it was just awkward, darkly funny in hindsight ("this guy is aggressive!")

I can maybe understand the viewpoint that he personally wasn't responsible/didn't know and that he paid out financially, but it's amazing that he stopped touring for maybe a year and then went right back to the mainstream like nothing happened

Kids should be learning that AI output isn’t trustworthy, where it really comes from, and how it’s disrupting our ability to tell what’s real. They shouldn’t be learning that AI will make them more efficient or do their work for them because it can’t. That would be propaganda, not education

Not sure how to say this nicely, so: Alberta’s in a fucking death cult. If the entirety of your province’s politics, even those of the so-called left wing party, can be reduced to cheerleading for the oil fields then we’ve got a real problem. bsky.app/profile/nahe...
