ooh wait I love all of these patterns so much. Thank you for letting me know about them!!

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

omg congrats!!! I love the colorwork!! did you knit a specific pattern? I've been looking for a colorwork sweater to knit for ages but none fully strike my fancy

I planned to attend outdoor crafting events and to invite friends to them for the past 3 Sundays. For the past 3 Sundays, it has rained incessantly. All 3 events were cancelled. why Also I've started to knit my first ever sweater yay

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

have you read The Making of the English Working Class? :o I've been meaning to for years but haven't yet sadly!

Unfortunately now that I have exactly the kind of job I was hoping for, I am deathly afraid of not meeting expectations and losing the job/getting fired 🥲 hopefully this fear will decrease over time...???

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Best use of it imaginable tbh! 🫡

Got a new job as a historic interpreter/educator at the Old North Church in Boston, in addition to my pre existing teaching assistant job!! Yay! But unfortunately I think I'll have to stop volunteering at a bookstore every Thursday, which was the highlight of my week 🥲 wah

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

can you believe that OCD-induced avoidance (basically being so scared about something I'm ruminating about that I do not look at my email & turn off notifications out of fear in an effort to assuage that fear) has almost cost me job opportunities twice in less than one year

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

I'm so so confused I just had an interview that I thought went... mid to poorly (couldn't stop rambling, didn't express myself as clearly as I'd like, kept saying Somerville instead of Boston) but apparently it went well & now they want references 😭 what's going onnnn

I want a book club but only where we read eighteenth- or nineteenth-century literature and/or criticism. My tbr list. I want a book club that makes me read my tbr list.

Wait omg that's so cool!!! Congrats on the internship! What are you doing during the internship (like are you working in the archives or something) also thank you medieval people for knowing how to build buildings that remain cool without air conditioners 🙂‍↕️ we have much to learn from your wisdom

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 27/05/2026

that's so interesting, I didn't know things were so different! Are you able to take any courses outside of your specialized subject? Like I majored in history but took a few English/literature classes bc I really like the subject – would you have been able to take history classes, if you chose to?

110

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 27/05/2026

Good luck on your final final exam!! Also are all universities in England 3 years? :o I'm so used to the American 4 year system that seeing the year 2023 in the first image confused me for a second lmao. How long will your Master's degree be (I think in the US Master's degrees are usually 2 years?)

turns out the cure for job application related anxiousness is going to random events and talking to friends! would still like for employers to reply to my emails in a timely manner though. please (I can go back to TAing in the Fall, but I would like a job now/a different full time one ideally)

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

there's a bookstore job I wanna apply to but one of the requirements is that you read a wide, diverse variety of books. You have to list the 3 most recent books you've read. I solely read 19th c. "classics" (I hate that term but w/e)😭I am NOT getting this job (I'll apply anyway)

Coming up on the 1 year anniversary of me starting to read Les Mis and ngl I'm missing it so bad. Reading like 30 pages of Les Mis per day was one of the absolute highlights of last summer. But alas! I'm too busy to reread it rn (and have around 10,000 other books I want to read) 🥲

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Will you be using the things you're studying over the summer? Probably not! Will you be using your two new turns over the summer? Probably! Ergo, roller skating > exams in importance 🙂‍↕️ (Seriously though, good luck with your exams!!! How many do you have?)

Seeing the sweaters that other people are wearing while learning how to knit is torturous. I want to knit what you're wearing so so bad. But I don't know how yet!! 😩

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 16/02/2026

sorry for the late reply, but that's so nice!! what's your favorite thing you've knit so far? I'm currently knitting a hat and am enjoying it a lot :] though I hope to knit a sweater/something more complex soon

I'll try to attend the next knitting event at that place, so hopefully I'll see them again! How long have you been knitting, btw? I started last month and am having a lot of fun with it lol

Met so many cool people at this knitting event I went to and didn't manage to get their contact info. What if I never see them again :((

Oh wait it's actually "voller Liebe" apparently. I still have so much to learn wrt German aaa

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 31/01/2026

Mein Herz, mein Herz ist... NICHT TRAURIG!! 🗣️🗣️ It is full of love for my friends (idk how to say that last part in German. Would it be von Liebe or mit Liebe 🤔)

I usually don't mind being hard of hearing but sometimes it's so annoying. Why is my hearing aid not functioning properly rn?!! Why does everything sound quieter and muddled. It's frustrating having something as important as hearing be dependent on technology that can be faulty :/

I haven't seen snow like this since December of 2020 🥹 it's so nice

I live in Massachusetts, near Boston! I'll definitely consider joining a hiking group. Do you know of any good ones in that area?

100

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 13/01/2026

Also how on earth can I get bluesky to show me more content related to history and old books. Even though most of the people I follow are interested in these things, I never see posts about them

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 13/01/2026

I wish I had more friends who liked hiking!! I'd love to hike far more than I do but I don't have a car and don't know too many people yet who enjoy hiking. How can I find them 🤔

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 10/01/2026

Why must conversations end, I want to talk to my friends and acquaintances forever and ever and ever 😔

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 10/01/2026

WOAH THAT'S AMAZING!! Congrats on presenting your first paper!! That conference sounds cool & I wish I could've gone, as there aren't many conferences about British history in the US (or maybe I just don't know about them). Were there any presentations there that you found especially interesting?

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 05/01/2026

And speaking of drawing here's one I finished a few days ago :] it was a gift for a friend and making it helped make drawing things again seem less intimidating to me

000

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 05/01/2026

I just posted one of my drawings for the first time in ages (haven't regularly done so since early 2020) and man I kind of miss posting my art/having an active art account. It was fun!! I think I'll try to do it more this year, as I'm feeling motivated to draw for the first time in a while

I haven't thought much about les mis after I finished reading it this summer but every time I do it's just like. how did victor hugo do that. how did he write something so good. absolutely insane. I keep getting tempted to re-read it but there's so much other books that I want to read aagh

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

I can't believe I genuinely forgot how to share/color/render illustrations well. I lost the patience for it too. Im currently following a tutorial on how to color things that I wrote when I was 14 </3

One of my fellow TAs keeps criticizing the students when they write long sentences (like ~25 word sentences maybe?). I feel like they would be very upset if they read one of my essays lmao

I've been trying to talk more in discord servers by not overthinking the things I want to say, but it's far more stressful than I expected. why did my back start intensely hurting after I sent one (1) message

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 18/11/2025

Nice!! Just sent a dm there :D And yeah I've heard of that law. I don't know too much about it, but it seems kind of odd to require age verification for bluesky dms but not discord dms?? It must be really frustrating to have seemingly random things restricted like that

020

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 15/11/2025

oh also I’ve finally started reading Shelley the Pursuit!! I’ve really been enjoying it, & have been meaning to dm you to talk about it & Shelley more but I think I recently saw you say you can’t dm on bluesky? so do you have a discord or something like that? :o

110

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 15/11/2025

I 100% agree that it was very visually interesting!! and the costumes were neat as well. I definitley need to re-watch it at some point soon, maybe I’ll like it better the second time? I mostly didn’t like how Victor’s character was changed & how the Creature didn’t kill anyone out of revenge really

010

Tyler @caviddopperfield.bsky.social · 13/11/2025

What did you think of the movie? I'm not sure if I liked it personally (especially not as an adaptation of Frankenstein). Still trying to figure out why I didn't like it; maybe once I do I could contribute something to this!
