It's in Wales, but happy to share the link - it's part of the Welsh Newspapers Online free collection available from @librarywales.bsky.social . I absolutely love this resource and spend so much time disappearing down the most random research rabbit holes

The newspaper also ran a full report on how clever the pig was especially at escaping and how it could unlatch doors. The pig broke into the hotel dairy the month before Christmas and ate huge amounts of the hotel food stores! They immortalised him in a poem 😂

I'm afraid it's not ancient but I am working on a building recording of a hotel and in 1905 the local newspaper ran an article about the owners prize performing pig who it named 'Mr Grunter Longsnout'. I can't be sure whether it is a name the paper made up or the pigs actual name 😂.

This is why you don't just dig things up. Look at the amazing info we've got now: We know how it was all placed in ground & we have all of it, none damaged & conservation possible both as excavated & after. We can also look at the soil, for organics, pollen etc. #Archaeology #Detecting #Treasure 🏺

South Wales in the late 80s and 90s there was definitely a lot of socialist thinking in our school, although sadly I don't think that my girls have covered any of these topics under the current curriculum

It's similar to Scotland in Wales, although probably less in the communal consciousness. Although I don't think that we focus enough on how recent it happened and the continued power and wealth the families who essentially stole the collective wealth of the poor still hold

Currently working on a project where a key element of the site history is the seizure of the plot as part of the massive land grab that was the Enclosure Acts. I will never cease to be amazed about how normalised this massive theft of the communal resources by the rich is!

While I appreciate journalists' giving space to criticize incidents of racism, I wish they didn't just ask questions to the ppl who were the targets of racism. Ask Messi about the racist behavior of Argentine fans. Does he approve of fans' monkey gestures or the vice-president's comments? Ask him!

5 Muslim's were injured yesterday in a racist attack by a man wielding an axe It has barely been mentioned A couple of months ago 4 empty ambulances were burned, no one was injured but they talked about it for weeks and had a COBR meeting. The racism in the UK is systematic

We’ve been doggedly reporting on Palantir’s contracts with UK state…& this latest one with Met police is both creepy & opaque. Met has used Palantir to spy on its own officers. If it can do this to its own employees…what about the rest of us? By @mc00.bsky.social & @luciaoc.bsky.social

I'm pretty sure that this is the authors obituary. Cross referenced it with some other online snippets and he was a collector of historical rescue medals. Maybe you can see if he put a copy in the local Edmonton archives or if you can reach out to someone who knew him through the groups mentioned
