The first panel shows a stick figure saying, "Everyone has demons."
The second panel shows the same stick figure saying, "And we must FIGHT them!"
The third panel shows Sarah (the protagonist) sitting with one of her inner demons having a tea party.
The fourth panel shows Sarah and the demon looking at each other in panic.

"In bed, they made love. Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; re-made all the time, made new." The Lathe of Heaven - Ursula K. Le Guin
The cover of the novel The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Leguin by Avon Science Fiction. It has a retro 60-70s hand-painted scifi aesthetic. The text is white block lettering on hard light blue 3d drop shadows. A rainbow-colored border boxes in the title with black circles at each corner. Below the title is a star field, with two circular planetary scenes on either side, and a man's sleeping face repeating in image as he looks from left to right, with his forward-facing having a singular open eye below his neckline. His hands can be seen crossing his chest. Below his hands is the planet Earth, with what appear to be many blue spheres orbiting nearby.

The cover of the novel Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala. It is boldly colored and drawn in the style of vector art with large, flat color blocking and sharp edges. The background is reddish-orange. A woman of color is cooking with a large wok-like black iron pot with a wooden handle on open flames set into a blue countertop. A bowl of white rice and a yellow-capped blue bottle with the classic skull and cross-bones sits next to it. Only half of the woman's face is visible. She is wearing large golden hoop earrings, bright red lipstick, a light blue shirt, and a yellow cooking apron. She is pouring a brown liquid from a blue bottle into the pot of chicken and brown liquid in front of her. Over her left shoulder sits a small brown Dachshund dog looking at her expectantly. Pinned to the apron is a blue circle with yellow text that says "A Tita Rosie's Kitchen Mystery". At the bottom of the cover is a quote, "Mouthwatering dishes and a funny, smart amateur sleuth... my favorite new culinary cozy mystery series."—Lynn Cahoon, New York Times bestselling author of the Kitchen Witch mystery series.

The cover an English edition of The Investigation by Stanislaw Lem published by Harvest. At the top is the author's name with LEM in huge green block lettering taking up one quarter of the cover. Below in the second quarter of the cover is the title of the book. The bottom half of the cover is a square painting with a green border around it. The painting is of a man on the street standing between green and red buildings. He is wearing a tan trench coat and brimmed hat, his back is toward us. In the distance, through sun rays, we see a shadowy figure also wearing a tan trench coat and brimmed hat.

Claude Opus 4.8 is not going to sugarcoat it
Quote from claude.ai

I'm not going to sugarcoat it—routing your production alarms through a max-thinking-effort model to uwuize them is, in operational terms, deranged. The most bizarre part isn't even the baby-talk; it's that you're inserting a high-latency LLM call (max thinking effort can take tens of seconds) directly into the critical path of your incident notification pipeline. Alarms exist to shorten time-to-acknowledge. You'd be deliberately adding a slow, nondeterministic transformation step between "database is down" and "human finds out," and any failure or rate-limit in that step now silently swallows your pages.

The requirement that this feed "the company-wide paging systems" and "TTS-enabled alerting apps" is the appalling part. You said it yourself: "There's nothing worse than being woken up at 3AM to figure out why the database is down again, and it's even worse when there's a creepy TTS voice telling you to do it." Your fix is to make that voice say "the database is feewing vewy sick uwu" instead. You have correctly diagnosed that 3AM TTS is miserable and then prescribed more of it, mutated.

Concretely: an on-call engineer is jolted awake by a synthesized voice cooing "OwO what's this~ disk usage is at 98%!!" and now has to mentally de-uwuize the alert to extract the one number that matters before they can act, while half-asleep, while the disk fills. Morale is not—

A three panel comic strip by Julia Kaye @UpAndOutComic.

The first panel is a man lying back in a red recliner, arms on his chest, eyes staring at the ceiling, with two speech bubbles above his head stating, "That's my problem—I can't seem to change."

The second panel continues from the first, scene unchanged, the text in the speech bubble stating, "No matter how hard I try and focus, nothing happens!"

The third panel switches to a therapist sitting in her armchair, her speech bubble stating, "Have you always felt so strongly about the Animorph books?"
