Lackadaisical about social media. I’m here for weird Anglicans, theology, fountain pens, books, cats, and memes. Big Bend enthusiast. Seminarian (go Thuribulls!) and Candidate for the priesthood in the Episcopal Church. She/her.

I went outside and ran errands. That was a poor life choice. Why do we even need August, anyway?

"AI" has existed in its current form for barely four years and the fact that it's jammed up the cognitive development of an entire generation that fast (and that there's a specific overclass of techofascists who are deeply thrilled about this) is a big damn red flag. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/17/u...

What Do Students Lose When They Stop Writing? (Gift Article)
Educators are worried that many students can no longer write essays without A.I. And it’s costing more than just grammar skills.

It’s hard being single in the process sometimes. I’m glad they talk about what it’s like for spouses and children, but being single clergy had its own set of challenges that I think het forgotten.

Another #TinyJoy - finding the mate to my favorite pair of Darn Tough socks, lost long enough ago I was sure it was gone forever. How it ended up in a reusable grocery bag will remain mysterious.

I'm watching two beloved classmates be ordained to the diaconate on livestream, and it turns out I cry just as much watching videos of ordinations as I do in person. The Church gained blessings today, amen.

And thus ends my unpopular Anglican take, lol.

And especially online, there seems this unspoken undertone that being Protestant is somehow dirty, or not "real Church" enough, and that's strange to me. Other people feel differently, but there's a self-consciousness in it that we don't need.

Meh. We don't answer to Rome, we aren't big-C Catholic in any real way. We have a high liturgy that looks Catholic in some parishes, but so do Lutherans. The via media was originally about defining what sort of Protestant the CoE would be.

We're protestant, and the consistent push to deny or minimize that weirds me out.

I have so much to do today, and yet I am sitting here watching The Local Project vids on gorgeous architect-designed modern homes. They are just so *pretty*.

I hope that's resolved for you! Sometimes dealing with these companies feels like a psych experiment I don't remember signing up for.

After a month plus of back and forth with AT&T about the unexplained removal of my watch from my account, and three tickets trying to add it back (which is something they aren't easily able to do, I guess), it has cell service again. A #tinyjoy in terms of the "problem," but hard-won, nonetheless.

Peg rolling jeans was a thing we really did, and that was...a choice. A classic leather jacket and jeans, did that first come into style in the 1940s or 50s? A venerable tradition.

When I want to mock kids for fashion, all I need to do is open my old yearbooks and then take several seats, lol.

The whole hate-the-youth thing is ridiculous. I grew up in the 80s. I can't make fun of anyone else's fashion choices, all I have to do is look at old photos and be humbled. Mistakes were made.

Thinking people deserve to have their things stolen just because they are nice isn’t something I understand. There are all kinds of people, I guess.

That’s a you thing, not a reflection on him, and you feel how you feel. That is his workplace, and attorneys often like nice pens. There’s no doubt that a Montblanc is a recognized status pen, but it’s also a tool that lasts decades, like a nice watch (also often status symbols).

Casey Clough @caseyclough.com · 14/08/2026
And whether I use one of my own pens or not depends on the occasion, the purpose, and the paper. I wouldn’t ruin the aesthetic of a guest book, but I might use one of my own on at work, or a sign-in sheet or medical forms, because they’re pleasant to use.

He left it in a bin by a metal detector and someone stole it. He wasn’t flaunting anything. It’s a hobby, much like people buy expensive gaming consoles they don’t need, or nicer cars than they need. Doesn’t make them pricks, either.

It was a gift from his wife. Do you believe the same about say, engagement rings or nice watches?

I would never vote for Paxton anyway, but as a fountain pen person, this ad is effective. James Talarico won’t steal your pen.

To all of the fountain pen people - has anyone found a good replacement for Iroshizuku Kiri-same? I have one bottle left, and it's time to start auditioning gray inks. Thank you! #fountainpens

Safeguarding God’s Children/Safe Church certification is required for everyone, lay or ordained, who works or volunteers with minors or vulnerable adults in TEC. It’s a normal and necessary thing.

"I would like to not feel angry enough to rage post." I felt that in my bones. I find myself needing to consciously reorient myself internally towards compassion and the gospel. I have mixed results, tbh.

I hear you. The other times I've just chalked it up to him being more comfortable being a lot more explicitly partisan in the name of the church than I am (and I would expect a phone call from the diocese for that, too). This one is a joke that should have stayed among close friends *offline*.
