Look, I tried to do a piece to camera to promote my new crime novel which is out tomorrow. I just looked unbelievably anxious and for some reason, was talking like Theresa May. So instead, I am allowing my dog Ellroy to promote it for me. He's very engaged, as you can see. #DeathonHollyIsland

I haven’t read all of the books in @igmansfield.bsky.social’s list, but I have read enough of them to say confidently that this is a fantastic list of books to read and I am very much looking forward to completing the set:

No knowledge about this specific issue but if they can identify genetic differences, then they can try to target treatments at pathways that those genes act on. All very long term and speculative but maybe a small step forward.

Got two tickets for Pulp at Wythenshawe Park tomorrow going spare. £140 face value but would take £100. How many people are even on Bluesky to see this? Not shifting these, am I.

Hard not to notice that the bottom three are the women's teams that are at the bottom of the table.

I enjoyed the finish in the women's game today. Lots of tension and (bonus) I recognised one of the team names. Maybe I'll be used to it by next year, but for now, if I recognise the team name, half the side will have changed so it's hard to feel any connection to it.

I've been struck by the lack of leadership development. How could NSB be the only option after HK? If, after CD, we don't have multiple options, I will be gnashing my teeth.

Sad for the defending champions New Zealand. Maybe Maddie Green's catch will pull them back into it but otherwise their catching has been dire. #T20WorldCup #Cricket

Sorry I didn't stop but thank you for an excellent evening.

I was using a random IP through my VPN but was getting blocked by my bank and BBC Sounds. Adopting a fixed IP address through the VPN gave me back access to both.

I agree with your initial post, and definitely about improving job security for early career researchers but I don't think it's necessarily a red flag if the senior author handles the promotional aspects of publishing.

There's a lot of turn-over though so the first author may have moved on before publication.
