As a civil engineer I was reminded of the drainage surveys that I watch through and was scoring my large intestine using the standard 1 to 5 score of structural defects. 5 being major remedial works. Oh boy. Do I need an excavator down there to fix my defects. (Thankfully not cancer! Woo)

Not your circus. You give them notice. That's all you need to do. Just because they have resourcing issues isn't your issue. You gave them months and months of notice. When you take paternity it'll be the same!

Maybe a written reminder now that you are taking the time off. Its booked. You notified them at XXX which is line with the UK Employment rights. Make sure you have a copy saved for unions. If they say no, use your sick leave. You aren't cancelling.

Having another down day I think. I'm the boss. So having to hold it in at the office. Literally can feel tears welling up, and don't know why. Can't focus on my work properly without distraction. Demotivated. Feels like a constant anxiety thing in the tum. Just need to get through today.

They look rubbish, but the good ones last. I have had one from 2005 which has travelled to Japan 6 times, intercontinental via MOD Airbridges, and its ONLY NOW dying, and that's due to familial abuse. Its a no name brand, bought from Cheshire Oaks, but built like a tank.

Sat on a Heathrow design team meeting. 56 people. All different companies. Introduction for a 1hr catch up meeting took 20 mins as tooting of horns was done. Mine was "Seb Reid. Civil and structural engineer." Architect went on for 5mins on his own.
