1/6 Been thinking quite a bit about how we assess progress within inclusive provision, particularly when attainment data only tells part of the story. For some children, greater independence, improved communication or simply being able to participate more fully can represent significant progress.

I’ve been acting depute (part time) this term. It’s been an interesting one. I have learnt that being the only member of SLT on site and teaching is fairly challenging. I have enjoyed getting to spend that wee bit more time with all the children across the school. Ready for a holiday!

Today, we wrote and decorated our Poetry Post in KS2. Tomorrow, we're off round the village to deliver poems to our local community. It's always really well received, with our pupils realising that they can have a positive impact on where they live. There's more info here: ourfp.org/eop/poetry-p...

I don’t have any support from a LA this year. But our 3 amazing LAs came to my rescue (in shifts) today and I would not have got through without them. They should be paid ten times what they are.

This Japanese copy of The Mathematicians' Library is winging its way to a school in Grantham to play a part in rekindling an international exchange programme disrupted by the covid pandemic. I'd say that was a good cause! I've still got 1 copy each in *German* and *Spanish* to give away to...
A Japanese edition of The Mathematicians’ Library lies on a white textured fabric background. The purple cover features large white Japanese lettering over a colourful abstract image of overlapping curved forms, with the English title “The Mathematicians’ Library” and subtitle “The Books That Unlocked the Power of Numbers” beneath it. The author’s name, Thomas K. Briggs, and the publisher’s name appear in Japanese. A small “EX LIBRIS” bookplate is partly visible behind the book.

When you are constantly on edge because a child in your class hurts other children, it’s so hard to actually teach. I spend every minute watching, trying to predict and then intervene before anything happens and it’s exhausting. And this is currently in both my classes.
