cool journalism from BBC “Zendaya wore a floor-length jewelled Prada gown” and “Colman Domingo was nominated for his role in comedy series The Four Seasons” Wasn't Zendaya also nominated for outstanding lead actress? Or is it just less important to know that Colman Domingo wore Valentino? #Emmys

If the relationship between a PI and postdoc is genuinely good, why should a union threaten it? Good mentorship shouldn't require postdocs have no collective voice. If anything, removing the potential for exploitation should make it easier to build healthy working relationships in academia.

The People's Choice winner in our Emerging Researchers Image Competition is Elisabeth Koch! 👏🏼 They research the condition misokinesia, where individuals experience negative emotional response to others' repetitive movements. Elisabeth is investigating if vagus nerve stimulation can reduce symptoms.

🔥 Hot off the press 🔥 This must-read viewpoint article by @jamiewardsussex.bsky.social explains BOTH proximal and distal causes of #misophonia 👂 www-sciencedirect-com.sussex.idm.oclc.org/science/arti...
Fig. 1. (a) An example model of the proximal causes of misophonia, i.e. that minimally explains its defining characteristics and (b) an example model of the distal causes of misophonia, i.e. that attempts to explain the causal factors for how/why misophonia emerges in some people (here illustrated as an interaction of other more basic transdiagnostic individual differences and environmental effects). The lines indicate possible causal influences (with directionality unspecified) that remains for future research to identify.

Synaesthesia is not a disability, not a disorder, not abnormal. Adults, parents, teachers often dismiss their kids' synaesthetic experiences or believe they might be just "making up stories" or "seeking attention." We need to raise awareness & support kids with this unique condition. #synaesthesia
