I met Newsom briefly 18 years ago when he was still SF mayor. He put himself at the end of both receiving lines at the Goldman Prize reception so everyone would have to shake hands with him. That moment of him riding the coattails of activists for his own clout has stuck with me.

In high school most kids would drive an hour away to Juarez to party (I did not as I was uncool). In college due to a quirk of Cali law every school-sanctioned party w/ alcohol had to be free & they only carded school ID (which was easily faked), so there were parties literally every night.

One of the major reasons I moved to SF 22 years ago was public transportation. Not having to pay for a car in my 20s was huge! I learned how to knit and listened to podcasts during my commute. It was great!

Oddly I’ve seen AI evangelism break pretty even. The difference is the women tended to push AI for personal things like art/design, photo cleanup, and recipes. The men pushed it more generally, both work and personal.

After high winds this past weekend, we finally made the heartbreaking decision that our weeping willow tree needs to come down. Tree removal is scheduled for next week. We’ve been lucky the last 3 years this 60 foot tree with a hole in the trunk hasn’t fallen on our house. I’m sad for the birds.
